Given the recent political climate, it seems like a terrible time to move to NC to be a teacher.

Maybe apply to charter schools. Does NC have those?

Every school will be a charter school that teaches the word of God if Betsy has her way.

just think with any luck you could be teaching jhmd's kids this time next year

I proposed it, but she wasn't feeling it. Although I'm sure it wouldn't be a deal breaker. I'll probably throw in an application to the school district and see if they contact me for any jobs.

I'm also really glad I have my master's degree. Hopefully that will make my application more competitive.

Charlotte (CMS specifically) is hemorrhaging teacher jobs, I'd think you'd be able to find something pretty quickly here if that's on the list.

Im gonna to apply to a variety of schools (public, private and charter) in Wake, Orange and Durham counties and also maybe put a district wide application into Forsyth, Buncombe and Mecklenburg.

Hopefully that will give me some options. The plan is that after I secure a job I'll figure out where I want to live exactly. I have definitely heard good things about Durham but would fine living in certain parts of Raleigh.

Traffic and accessibility will be key factors obviously, as will the input of GF.

(Once again, assuming every thing is moving forward as I hope)

I doubt that Durham is going to be so hot for big swinging dick Yankee lawyer jobs compared to Charlotte or Raleigh, but I'm no lawyer.

Yeah, I've heard that about Charlotte and Raleigh. Rapid student population growth (unlike Austin or Asheville where young people are moving in but rarely with kids) mixed with a reduction in teacher interest due to the political climate. Hopefully that will play in my favor. Well that and my sweet assistant soccer and cross country coaching experience. Duh.

Keep up Biff! She doesn't need a job. She's already set up in W-S but can live anywhere in the area. She'll probably move back home with her parents for a month or two while she is training and then hopefully join me if I get my situation figured out. At least that's the plan for now.

Seems like this narrative that we don't have enough good teachers is #fakenews given it seems difficult for teachers to get a job based on board #anecdotes. Should prolly start paying them less.

Is cross country coaching basically.... Hey you should try to run a little faster next time!

Brasky has already proven that anyone can become a teacher in Texas. Now he will attempt to prove the same in North Carolina.

I would imagine that anybody with a teaching certificate can get a job in a war zone high school pretty easily. CMS offers combat pay for its "High Impact Schools."

It'll get interesting when this girl is smitten with a lovely neighborhood in Cary.

Brasky, I respect your right to live your life wherever and however you want, but you must not move to Greensboro.
