Official 2018 NBA Offseason Thread: the preseason cometh

Keeping Lebron happy is never a dumb move. And CP is a much better player than Kyrie. Much Much better.

Because Gilbert didn't want to either because it would have been a dumb move. But he needed to keep Lebron happy.

That's a great trade for the Suns. Actually it looks good for everybody involved.

Meh, the Cavs are giving up Kyrie and Love and getting back Bledsoe and Melo. Cavs need a good 3rd player to even that out, but as I type this I guess it's not that bad, depending on your opinion of Melo.

In both cases the Cavs players are 3-4 PER higher than what they're getting back, but at least in Bledsoe's case there's some real defensive potential/upside.

Yeah. If they are definitely giving up Kyrie and Love and they don't want picks, that's a good haul for them.

He's not "much much better." Kyrie is the best offensive PG in the league and just entering his prime. CP's prime is behind him and he isn't winning anything unless he's the third best player on a team.

Splitting hairs. Shooter, scorer, passer, defender. There's a few different ways to be a great lead guard.

Kyrie is a better pure scorer than Curry. He's easily the best ball handler in the league too.
Better "pure" scorer? WTF does that even mean? Steph is a once in a generation game warping offensive player. He's a better offensive player than Kyrie, and it's really not all that close. Steph is a historically great player, and that's based entirely on his offensive.

Kyrie is a strong ball handler for sure, but so was Tim Hardaway and that didn't make him a historic player. And Steph's handles are fucking filthy as well, very much in the same league as Kyrie.

Kyrie has an effective FG % of 52%. CP is like 60%. Not sure where this "better offensive PG" narrative comes from

I've had like three fucking people now ask me about Boston trading for Kyrie. Bros. It ain't happening. Stahp.

And Paul is a much, much better defender. The gap between Kyrie and CP3 is yuge

I think that take underrates Dame. A slightly worse Dame is a damn good player. This is the golden era of PGs.

Wasn't trying to downplay how good Dame is, or Kyrie. But people are acting like Kyrie is on the Steph/CP3/Harden/Westbrook level when he's at least a couple tiers down from that.

After those 4 I'd go:

5. Lowry

6. Lilliard
7. IT
8. Conley

9. Wall
10. Kyrie
11. Kemba

12. Dejounte Murray
13. Dennis Schroder

AS to PH's comment about this being the "golden era of PGs", the 80s is calling:

Magic
Zeke
Stockton
Price
DJ
Cheeks

Those are just off the top of my head.

I think Fat Lever was pretty damn good. Mark Jackson and Muggsy played in the 80s as did many others.
