2021-22 Wake Forest Basketball Season - 25-9 (13-7), KP#33

I guess the argument against a 1-bye is that you can't get fans of the lowest seeded teams to show up to see their team get blasted by the best teams, but they may show up for two games they have a chance to win.

Deacs are a half game out of first at 9-4 behind 9-3 Duke and ND. Let's go!!!

Some things to keep track of the next few weeks.

At 19 wins, this is the 29th time a WF team has reached 19 or more wins in a season. The most ever in a season is 27 (The '04-'05 team).

The Deacs have a chance to reach 29 before the NCAAT this year.

As of now, this is the 10th highest winning % for a season. That includes some goofy seasons from the beginning of the 20th century (shoutout 1915-1916 team that went 16-2).

We have a chance to make this an all-time special season.

Agreed. Two legit stars. Solid PG. Guys are good in transition. Solid half court team. Good size. Nice depth. Biggest issue that can really bite you in a tourney setting is turnovers. There are a number of teams where I don't think we match up well - UK, Purdue, Auburn - but this team is not getting enough props nationally. Definitely capable of getting to the second weekend and from there who knows.
 
Saturday against Miami is huge! Need that home crowd rocking.

Need to get that environment like Rutgers does. Place is crazy for their home games. We are about to move up the KenPom ranks. Our defense will shoot up after tonight.

KP projections for ACC reg season wins: Duke 15, WF 14, ND 14, Miami 13, UNC 13
 
Xavier’s about to lose to Seton Hall. We’d better be ranked.

My kids will understand if they have to go hungry a few nights a week. It's worth it.

Kenpom now has Wake beating both Miami & ND by 7. Has the reg season ending with two beat downs. Duke a nothing to lose game and a coin flip at Clemson. 25 wins and double bye in sight. Win @ Duke and very well should be ACC champs.
