WFU Hoops: '23-'24 Roster Construction Thread: +Miller, Sallis, Reid, & Canka

are these like official practices and all? is midnight madness not a thing anymore? not that it was much of a thing at Wake but you would always hear about duke and carolina doing it with skits and the coaches dressing up and shit. but seems like we've been scrimmaging for months.

Official practices started near the end of September, a couple days after the Forbes family returned from Atlanta. And yeah, midnight madness isn’t really a thing anymore for the start of practice but the big programs still do their big preseason events sometime in October. Mostly as a recruiting tool it seems.

Today they put a plastic bubble on the basket. Nobody made a single shot. Quite alarming.

I mean, Steve Forbes was taking the shots. Don't know if he's on the current minutes projection. Might just be a nothingburger.

As a student, I was there for the MM that Stuart Scott (RIP) mc’ed. It was one of the most exciting nights of college for me. So much fun.

I'm here to speak into existence, via an EF-TON of manifesting vibes, that Mr Reid takes the floor this year. And he has Steve Forbes' attorney, too, so there's that.
Unless the NC Attorney General threatens to sue NCAA for anti-trust again it won't matter.

Three transfers from last season:
Robert McCray - Jacksonville - 22min, 19 points (on 8-11 shooting; 3-6 from 3), 6reb, 2ast in 113-46 win over Johnson, FL.
Lucas Taylor - Georgia State - 30min, 12 points (on 6-20 shooting), 5reb, 3ast in a 89-87 loss to Belmont
Davion Bradford - New Mexico State - Has to redshirt after 2nd transfer

Looks like both McCray and Taylor landed in situations in which they'll play a lot of minutes and have large roles. Good for them.

Tariq Ingraham had 7 points and 5 rebounds in 12 minutes for Rider vs Immaculata (?)
I forgot he transferred there. Fun fact- two brothers of a kid on my son’s AAU teammate and good friend play on that Rider team. Their dad, Ty Weeks, played for UMass under Calipari.

Never understood why McCray couldn't get any run on mediocre teams, just based on his athleticism alone. Though I guess somehow, he was even more of a defensive liability than what we put out there? Ody would play meaningful minutes for us this year, at least until Reid is hopefully cleared.

Lucas Taylor landing on a team that allows him to get 20 shots up in the first game is wild to me. That would suggest to me that he's going to be the best player on that team and a focal point of their offense

Belmont’s traditionally a good program too. Taylor may be a top player on a decent team.
