Steve Forbes credibility watch

As far as I’m concerned anyone can talk about the Program and the future. Hell it’s a sports message board. My take is that an active discussion of Forbes status is a bad look for a fan base that four years ago supported a Program that was a laughing stock of Division 1 BB.

Is that irony if that’s exactly how I consider you and Ph? I find the character of this board to be broadly condescending, insulting, and unwelcoming to contrary viewpoints. Many of you are very insulting towards opinions contrary to board consensus, seemingly in an effort to discourage them. I’m just too stubborn to leave because the only other Wake community is even older, whiter, and more conservative.

If you think phan and I are emblematic of a board you find old, white, and conservative, you may be the problem.

"Condescending, insulting, and unwelcoming" is exactly how I'd describe your posting style. I don't think that's probably who you are as a person, but that's how you treat people on here.

You're probably right about how message boards in general develop consensus and then resist dissenting opinions.

I’ve agreed with much of your Forbes argument. But honestly, as an old white conservative(ish) on the CT or the Tunnels, this reads as a pretty dumbfounding post

This is a very small, insular group that has hardly grown in its decade+ of existence, and the group of people that this board draws its members from is particularly small, insular, and homogenous group. So before you go assuming anything about me based on how I get along here, you should consider all the other potential members of OGboards who don’t post, never joined, never went to Wake.

What I have in common with this group is where I went to college and its athletics program, if I don’t have much else in common with you, or don’t really get along with you, that isn’t necessarily a judgement on me, besides my potentially making the wrong school choice when I was 20.
 
I am not assuming anything about you and I am not judging anything about you outside of the words you post.

Just pointing out that your posting style does tend to attract arguments and there is one common denominator across the different threads and forums.

I like you and don’t mind your posting style. I think you have good counter arguments to others at times and I welcome your thoughts on the board. You help me think of certain topics in different ways, which I appreciate. That said, this argument has now been beaten into the ground on all sides and should probably die. I say this as someone who has taken breaks from the board when I’m frustrated from time to time.

Reasonable take but the people who have left this group or not joined are older more conservative Wake fans who are less critical of Wake athletics.
 
For a group of people portraying themselves as reasonable you all are pretty determined to keep the insults going.
