2018-2019 NHL Thread – Thunderstorm Warning

Very interested to see how the top three in the Metro shakes out between the Pens, Caps and 'Canes

The Metro should be ridiculous again. I still think the top 3 will be the Pens, Jackets and Caps. I don't know that the Canes have added enough to catch the top 3. The Canes D-Men are pretty stout. They still need to add some offense. I could definitely see the Canes getting a wild card though.
 
CBJ got off to a great start last year but in 2017 they were comparable to a weaker 'Canes team than the one that will be trotted out this year. Douchey Torts had his one good year, time to suck again

We've got a kinder gentler Torts now. Yes, they fell off during the second half of the year when everyone figured out the power play and the kids hit the wall. They won't rip off 16 in a row again like last year, but there is far too much talent on that team to go back to sucking. And they added the sniper they needed in Panarin for more offense. Jones and Werenski form a top flight first D pairing. The Jackets will be just fine.

Looking forward to seeing the improvement in the Canes as well. Ron Francis is doing a great job in building that roster around their young defensemen.
 
Was reading that earlier, Lozo crushed that.

Of course the only bad thing that could be said about the mighty 'Canes was about our backup goaltender

So the Hurricanes went from no one wearing the C to having two captains. Huh???????????

Should have just given the C to Faulk and been done with it.
 
Simmonds, McDavid, Ovechkin, and Saad all had hattricks in their first game of the season :eek:

 
The reports of Ovi's death are greatly exaggerated.

He's lit the lamp 6 (!) times in the last two periods.
 
Nice start 'Canes. Would've been nice to not give up the equalizer with 0.3 secs left but got the job done in OT, an annual problem spot.
