2024 College Basketball Coaching Carousel

USC had a bunch of injuries this past season. That said, his tenure at USC has trended in the wrong direction. If SMU has made Enfield a substantial offer, the Trojans would be happy to get out of his contract and move on to someone else.

Schertz seems like a solid coach and Kelsey may end up being really good but these lists are a far cry from the fantasy lists dreamed up by the Louisville faithful.

Can't imagine they'd want to revisit the Mack tree so soon but they did allow Danny Manning to be on their bench so what do I know

feels like a bit of stretch to call Kelsey a branch of the Mack tree -- he was an assistant under him for 3 years and not part of that Louisville staff

I don't think his connections to Mack would preclude his candidacy

Thomas Aaron Crean. LOL. Does providing his middle name give more weight to this? Or is he already being charged with a crime?

A loss for the ACC with Kenny Brooks leaving VT for Kentucky. In addition to raising VT's women's hoops profile, he also seems like a genuinely great guy. This will be a step back, but Babcock has been making mostly good hires. The ironic thing is 15-20 years ago all Weaver cared about was football, but the post Beamer era has been a bust for football, but they've had NCAA appearances for men's hoops and final 4s for women's hoops and soccer. Those things wouldn't have happened had they remained in the BE and if Weaver was still there.

Louisville’s options seem on par with what we would go after if we were hypothetically looking. A little surprising they aren’t able to attract better candidates but they are batshit crazy so that doesn’t help.

Sounds like they’re looking at Richard Pitino now
How far has L'ville fallen that they would hire a coach that couldn't hack it at Minnesota. If L'ville can't get a big name, there are so many good mid-major options right now that would be far better than Richard Pitino or Tom Crean.

yeah but will any of those guys wear a white suit?

Definitely a loss for the ACC. Curious why he left. Perhaps he decided not to try to sustain the program without Kitley.

Jen Hoover may be out of a job. She’s been an assistant at UK after being fired from Wake.

Yeah, that's bad news for Hoover because Brooks knows she can't coach.

Money. UK spends more on basketball (both men's and women's) than VT. Also, VT loses a lot of its talent. If Brooks was ever going to go, this was his chance.
