If anything stugotz's role is expanding. They know what they are doing in Bristol.
I dunno. I always thought the Sandler, Farley, Rock, Spade era was the golden era. I am probably missing someone else too. Those guys/skits were hilarious every week.
90s Kilborn was the TV GOAT
I would watch the shit out of a 30 for 30 about the rise and fall of Craiggers. I watched him on the Daily Show and the Late Late Show every night back before DVR.
RIP, but Phil Hartman was also a great cast member of that era.
Yes, but ESPN's politics can't be brushed aside as a nonfactor either. Red state America is gaga about sports, and they didn't particularly care about the plight of Michael Sam or Jenner. ESPN wasn't just covering those stories, but engaging in Connecticut bubble-based issue advocacy. It was absolutely a factor in people tuning out. FS1 was doing the same stupid ESPN shows without the advocacy. Of course, FS1 has been mostly terrible because it did adopt the same model, but its existence is a factor, as are all the other things you mentioned, the emergence of league networks, etc...
Do you agree with referring to Caitlyn Jenner as "it?"
He/She is not an "it" yet. Caitlyn/Bruce still has to cut off the family jewels to complete the process. Right now he/she is just "acting" for the cameras, but carrying out really well for the cause. As he/she said the other night with Tucker Carlson in a very good interview, the Olympic Committee has been way ahead of the curve on which is which on competition and has a great "pee test." That be itself has satisfied Jenner now for the last few years as to which side of the ledger people get to compete. But still, to call Jenner 2015's Most Courageous person for the ESPY's was a total joke! What a bunch of PC crap and no wonder ESPN is losing viewership.
Yes, it absolutely can be brushed aside. The rubes in flyover country are still gonna watch Ohio State Michigan no matter what channel it is on, or who got an ESPY. If you are genuinely curious about this issue, then just do some googling to understand the economics driving this, and stop trying to fit it into your dumb self effacing narrative.
The sad truth is that these cuts are just a drop in the bucket and are really are a show pony to demonstrate to shareholders that ESPN is aware of the problem and is addressing it. How much salary do you think they possibly cut? 10MM 20? They are losing like 10MM cable subscribers a year. Firing Andy Katz is not gonna solve that problem.
Rubes in flyover country? Michigan Ohio State 2016 was the highest rated football game in the country for the year. That must be a lot of rubes and must be beyond flyover country.
"Michigan at Ohio State (Nov. 26, ABC, noon) — 10.4 overnight rating"
Meanwhile, rubes in SEC country have a lot of night games to watch, right? And the SEC country is pretty red, right?
What's your point? Bc there are a lot of them that they aren't dumb?
My argument was that the rubes in the midwest (and the gumps in BAMA) are gonna watch those games no matter who is on the ESPYs or if SAS shills BLM for an hour every morning.
If those ppl boycott football bc of ESPN politics what do they have left?
