Uh, what a complete and utter disappointment if true. A terrible excuse. His main duties are executed. His ass needs to be focusing on his duties as our AD. We paid him almost $2.5M to do so in what, 2011?

You guys think its going to be shaka?? Please you know that is not going to happen. It just hurts to see us get up our hopes like this when we all know that its going to be Mack, or a similar type of hire.

Possibly, but he's also pretty much the only WF beat writer in the universe. Wellman needs to be feeding him info. It is to his (Wellman's) benefit to let the fanbase know WTF is going on. Even if Wellman's panties are still in a wad after that disastrous press conference, he can still have underlings feed Dan info.

Yup. And the people who bitched that he wasn't critical enough of Bz and Wellman will be the same ones bitching that he has nothing to report.

Why? When he makes a hire it's going to make the news whether it's Dan that breaks it or not. Dan needs Wellman a lot more than Wellman needs Dan right now, so good for Dan for standing up and not running scared.

Yeah the idea that time is on Ron's side is kind of ridiculous. Shaka Smart isn't going to leave VCU hanging for two weeks while Ron tries to find time to interview him. Ben Howland isn't going to turn down Marquette because he might have a shot at the Wake job if he waits it out. All of these coaches, except for Howland, have their current AD's, prospective AD's, and recruits pressing them to make decisions. USF and VT already seized their opportunities and took two candidates off the table.
 
Dan should ask Wellman if he has considered stepping down as committee chair since its pretty clear its interfering with his job as Athletic director of Wake Forest. He gets paid a lot of money by Wake to put its interests ahead of all else. Playing the NCAA wine and dine game is definitely a distraction. He should resign and gain a little respect from the people he is paid to represent.
 
Wellman isn't going to answer an argumentative question.

Somebody made a good point today or yesterday that it has to be difficult for Marquette to come up with a $3M+ contract without a president and AD. It's much more likely they will be more competitive in a week than they are now.

Unless Shaka has it in his mind that Wake is the only option he wants to pursue, the longer we wait, the less our chances to get him; or for that matter either of our top choices. If we have not heard anything by Thursday, it will be time to start worrying...
 
it is in shaka's contract that he owes the school $600,000 if he leaves before april 2014.
