NCAA Tournament Discussion Thread - One Shining Moment - UConn Huskies

kenpom goes back to 1997, only teams with a higher efficiency margin were:

2021 Gonzaga (31-1 lost to Baylor in final)
2015 Kentucky
2001 Duke (35-4 won the natty)
1999 Duke (37-2 lost to Uconn in final)

I think winning the natty puts this uconn team a notch above those that didn't

you lost me on kenpom efficiency

wasn't Wake like top 30 in KP this season? even if top 40 it's fucking flawed.

like we all have eyes. stop being a slut to metrics and metrics alone.

didn't we all just shit on kenpom and metrics for the MWC sucking ass in the tournament? did I just make that up?

Ok, so you don't like kenpom or torvik

How about.... 2024 uconn set all time records for:

Avg winning margin of 23.3 points
Total winning margin of 140 points
Uconn only trailes 6 minutes of the entire tournament

You are just repeating your same arguments.

Uconn was clearly the best team this season. Them shitting on Stetson is great but what the fuck does that have to do with UNLV in 1990? or any of the other teams I mentioned?

I can't prove I'm right. Nor am I trying to convince you. So why are you so gung ho on proving me wrong?

At least he has arguments, you're just repeatedly stating your opinion and telling everyone else they're wrong with nothing to back it up other than "we all have eyes don't we?".

Hurley is a lunatic but that dude can coach and gets the most out of his guys. Their guards were head and shoulders above Purdue’s guards and they just dominated them in all phases. Hurley said in the press conference that he was ok with giving Edey whatever he wanted and just daring the other guys to beat them. Going back-to-back in the hardest postseason tourney to win in sports is so impressive.

Back to back in absolutely dominating fashion in all 12 games too. I doubt even the great John woodens teams won 12 games by this margin every single game.

28 games. Wins by 9 or few points (bolded above): 6 -- 3 of which were in the same tournament in 1971.

I think DV7's point basically boils down to "college basketball teams aren't as good as they use to be in general".

I don't think that is true. Actually I think with the transfer portal stuff teams are better. It is really hard to win by having a bunch of freshman burger boys now. You need experience, because teams have gotten better.

If we're really going to compare eras, this is going to get tricky. But I have to assume this UConn team would skull-drag 1972 UCLA. The level of athlete is just of a different caliber, and we have elite 3 point shooters (UConn has a few) these days. Not to mention better conditioning, nutrition, etc.

About what I figured, so I was correct

said with the same confidence as people saying that the United States would win every World Cup if only we put our best athletes on the football pitch
