Looking to purchase a larger TV. This list seems to have a clear winner. Any thoughts?
http://reviews.cnet.com/best-tvs/

This is for a bright living room with blinds on all the windows, so that's not a big deal. I'm mounting it on a large wall. Looking for sound recommendations, too. One consideration is that the living room shares a wall (not the TV wall) with my youngest's bedroom.

Thanks.

I have the Panasonic GT50 65in, last year's model. Did a ton is research on it. It is absolutely incredible. First Panasonic and it's by far the best I've seen with my own eyes.

From the review:

"And yes, there's a Web browser, but as usual it's terrible compared with a phone or especially to a laptop browser. Loading CNET.com resulted in a jumble of improper text overlays, rendering the page illegible. Navigation was sluggish and quite frustrating with the remote's cursor keys. In short, you should use the browser only when no other recourse is available."

I'm pretty sure there is one reason well above all others for the majority of people to try to use a web browser on a 60" screen, and it sure as hell is not found on cnet.com.

Want an LED - get a Samsung. Want a plasma get a Panasonic. Very sad that Panasonic is ending their plasma production this year - best PQ for the buck by far. Couldn't be happier with the Panny GT hanging on my wall right now.

Agreed. 2011 gt as well. Great tv and with the end of production wish I went bigger than 55'

Any good sites out there with recommendations for the best TV settings?

I am likely getting a new med sized TV. Confined to 40" due to existing mount and dont want it to dwarf the room.

I am leaning toward this 40", 120Hz Samsung LED. Only $450.00

All the other TVs in my house are Sony XBR LCDs, so I am also looking at a comparable Sony. It looks like the Sony doesnt have a 120Hz 40" model available right now, just 60Hz.

Does the Hz matter on the newer LEDs? I have had great experience with Sonys, but leaning toward the Samsung due to the 120Hz and only like $30 more than the Sony.

I got the same specs with 3D for $477 and a $30 gift card from Best Buy on Tuesday. The $477 was their price on Monday but it went up to $529. I got a Walmart price match at $477 though. I like it so far.

I have that exact Samsung 40 in the bedroom. It's a great TV. Very thin, light, clear. I can tell a difference in the 120 hz. It's noticeably clearer in high motion sports or games. I have honestly heard some questionable things about Sony TVs in recent years, but I can't personally confirm that.

On another note, was able to get a logitech harmony for Xmas... What a difference it makes getting rid of so many remotes. One day hopefully will add some Philips Hue lighting.. Anyone have any experience using the Hue bulbs? Looks pretty cool.

Ordered a new 50 inch vizio from Costco. Arrived today and i rushed home from work all excited, got it all set up and discovered the screen was busted to hell. this has nothing to do with your TV but I needed to vent about my first world problem.

Scrap the previous posted TV

I'm thinking about getting this 60" Panny plasma. I know Panasonic said that they're not making plasmas anymore, any risk of buying this tv now? Should I wait a bit, will prices drop?

Not sure about price drops but these are great tvs and and a very good value when discussing picture vs cost so they may sell out before seeing much cheaper. Cnet has written about this.

So I've been searching for a reputable A/V installation company, and it seems like the best bet is the Magnolia store in Best Buy. These guys seemed the most reputable and fairly priced.

Anyone with any experience on this sort of work? Need a fireplace mount + 5.1 installation/wire concealment. THANKS BROS.

If you're getting concealed install you should at least run 7.1, if it's a man cave run 9.1.1

The importance of Hz really will depend on your preference. Your cable feed is only going to be coming in at 60 Hz, and your Xbox or PS3 (or whatever consoles you may have) will also only transmit to the TV at 60 Hz. These 120 and 240 Hz sets are using fancy math to guess what the "in between" images look like, and some people really don't like the artificial look that that sometimes produces. Best bet is to check it out for yourself at the store.

Also, be mindful of the panel lottery if you go pick up a Samsung. Check that box before you load it in the car. Popular opinion on avsforum indicates the Samsung and Sharp panels are preferred.
