Official NCAA Tournament discussion thread (NWT or WT?)

Not to be a downer, but there is no way in the world we would be in the tournament at this point. That is a pipe dream. We are 0-6 against the top 25, which means that we have no good wins. Put another way, we are #29 in RPI, which sounds great, except that according to the RPI metric, we haven't beaten a single team above us all year. Or looked at a different way, out best win is against the #66 RPI team. I think we have no shot unless we go at least 4-2 to finish with at least one of those wins being at ND or at Duke.

I think the 'ville would work as well.

If we get to 8-10 and are on the board for selection Sunday it would stink not to go but we would have had a reasonable season.

First team out in Lunardi's update today: http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology.

That said, I think we'd get in over Miami -- his last team in -- at this point. I don't think them beating UNC is enough to overcome their terribad non-conf SOS (compared to our excellent one), and that we're better in the metrics, and that we crushed them H2H

Sounds like Lunardi needs to hire some OGBoards consultants to let him know there's NO WAY we would even be CLOSE to making the tournament.

GT is also in the Last Four In. A win Saturday helps us and hurts them

Seven locks, three bubble teams in, one bubble team out (us). That leaves Cuse, Pitt, BC, and State out in the cold. What an insane league.

The NIT is going to be the ACC "B" league tournament.

I have circled the Duke game - @Duke - as our signature win entering the ACC tourney.

Notre Dame will most likely be on a 4 game losing streak when Wake goes there next week. Vasturia seems to have the yips & can't make a shot. Their best player is Colson who you would hope Collins can handle w/ his height advantage. They also aren't very good at defense so Tuesday may be a good opportunity to steal one.

Jerry Palm (CBS) doesn't have us at all:

Last four in: Seton Hall, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, TCU
First four out: Georgetown, Kansas State, North Carolina State, Rhode Island

BR had us fourth team out on Jan 30.

But we're not listed as one of their 12 bubble teams in their stock watch.

Wake just needs to get to 8 wins in the ACC by any means necessary. That means in all likelihood a third road win against a top 50 team, or a home win against Louisville. 8 and a decent showing in the ACCT should put us on the right side of the bubble.

If not then we will be a 1 or 2 seed in the NIT.

Yeah barring a total collapse down the stretch Wake will either make the NCAAT or be a top three or four favorite to win the NIT.

Let's not act like those are similar outcomes.

I wasn't acting like they were. I was just providing that we'll likely make postseason play.

I'm going to go find the thread for win predictions this year and bump it so we can see how people's stated expectations now on what Manning has accomplished in year three meshes with comments made prior to the season.

I don't recall many saying that this year was going to be an NCAAT year, so following that (if it turns out that my memory is correct) it would seem having us on the bubble shows we're a little bit ahead of schedule under Manning.

The BR stock watch isn't a list or ranking of bubble teams. It's a list of which teams' stock rose or fell the most that week.

Dude if we don't make the tournament this year then we haven't progressed at all, Manning is a [Redacted] level failure, and we should put out feelers for an upgrade on the bench.

Haven't you heard.

TBF it wasn't neccessarily easy to project that 18-14 might be good enough to make the tourney. Our non-conference schedule looked pretty decent headed in, but just how tough it was I think exceeded expectations.

Just hope LSU doesn't ruin it. Fuck Johnny Jones

First four out: Arkansas, Rhode Island, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest

11 seed vs. West Virginia

Bracketville https://bracketville.wordpress.com/s-curve/
69. Seton Hall
70. Miami-FL
71. Wichita State72. Georgetown
73. Wake Forest74. Rhode Island75. Texas Tech76. NC State

Based on that I'm pretty sure Bracketville is useless. 3-8, 14-10, 99 RPI NC State is even on the board?
