Season Long College Basketball Thread

Larranaga can flat out coach and just think, he had just suspended his starting PG for 3 games starting with this critical road game at UVa!

Yes, he can. And he's doing it with a young team after losing a lot off of last year's team. They're close to a lock for the dance. What I found interesting last night was Larranaga started out in a 2-3 zone, which UVA didn't struggle with, and then went man for the rest of the game with the idea of denying London any air space. They did a terrific job of fighting through screens as well. I thought UVA would be able to take advantage of that Eastern Euro guard on D, but they only got him once on a lob. That was a stifling defensive game both ways.

Last night was actually Newton's 3rd & final game of his suspension, but the Canes did end up going 3-0 w/o him which is very impressive.

Just the latest reminder that Shaka Smart's preseason top 25 Longhorn squad is now 10-18 (4-11), 2nd to last in the Big 12, 70th in KenPom, and hasn't won a game away from home all season.

Watching an interview of UNC's Luke May on WGHP Fox 8 and he sounds dumber than dirt. "We can't have no drop off." Apparently the academic issues at UNC are still there.

Top 10 recruiting class coming in next season. He'll turn it around.

Had #17 class (2nd in Big 12) in 2015, and #5 class (1st in Big 12) in 2016. He's got 9 rotation players that were 4+ stars out of high school, including two seniors.

There's a reason they were preseason top 25. Not saying he won't turn it around, just saying where it's at.

Trap game alert:

Clemson @ VT:

VT is 18-8 (7-7) and has already beaten Clemson at Littlejohn. VT is also coming off a road win at Pitt, and a close loss at L'ville (94-90).

Clemson is 14-12 (4-10) has lost 6 of their last 7 road games, including a 6 point loss at Miami when Miami was missing their PG.

The line opened at VT -2.5. The line is now Clemson favored by 1, even though the public has been all over VT (73% of the bets are on the Hokies).

Obviously, the sharps have jumped on Clemson hard. Will be very interested to see how this game turns out.

And I'm assuming he'll lose at least one guy to the draft, right?

Yeah, most likely Jarrett Allen (their 5 star PF/C freshman). Leading rebounder and blocker, leader in minutes played, and just barely in 2nd for pts.

Very strange.

Go Hokies and Pack

Nice crowd in Waco to see #9 Baylor. Good seats still available

State up 9 on GT at the half. That would be really helpful.

When talking about Clemson they're referring to us as a good win, that's a nice change.

They kind of have to do that to justify how a 4 win Clemson is on the bubble. If half their wins were garbage, that invalidates their bracketologist.
