What's impressive about beating Troy, Eastern Kentucky, ODU, and South Alabama?
Arkansas might be 2-2 against that schedule.

49-21, 35-0, 38-14, 63-13. And they are 4-0. Or you can look at Arkansas who loses to a good but unknown Toledo team 16-12. Or Maryland who gets scorched by unknown but a really Bowling Green team 48-27. Shorty, you get noticed by the way you finish the season the year before, where they won 4 of their last 5 including a bowl win over a good UCF team in the Bitcoin Bowl, and by starting the next season 4-0 and not having trouble with these type teams.
Dave Doeren has gone from 0-8 his first year to 8 wins & a 3-5 ACC mark in his 2nd year and starts out 4-0 in his 3rd season. He is getting noticed playing the same kind of non-con schedule we play [save for the Notre Dame game we have to play]
Indiana is much better than anybody State has played so far.
Things that spoiled fans of "powerhouse" football programs say.
The four teams State has played are a combined 6-8. Against their own shit competition.
State is headed in the right direction but their OOC slate is an absolute joke. The teams they've played don't belong in the same universe as Indiana, Syracuse, Toledo or Bowling Green.
Typical Reff stupid
Shorty, remember that Troy is in the same league that La Monroe is in--the Sunbelt [both started this season below 100 in the ESPN power index]. We lost to La Monroe not once but twice. I don't care what 4 teams NC State has played, they beat them. We have played the same kind of teams the last 2 years, except for ND this year and haven't fared so well have we? Until we do, I wouldn't be so quick to talk smack when they have an 8-5 record and won their bowl game last season and went 3-5 in the ACC after going 0-8 the season before. That is the kind of improvement any team would want.
So what? La Monroe Sucks. We suck. That has nothing to do with the discussion.
Sure it does. Same conference as Troy, same basic power rankings over 100 and it is how you beat those kinds of teams that get you noticed when starting to get votes for the Top 25. Or in our case and other teams, lose to those type teams that are Sunbelt & lower Conf USA teams that warrant no respect at all. We shall see this weekend now what NC State is all about as they host Louisville and are also favored by 4.5. Depending on the pre-season books, NC State was picked 3rd ahead of Louisville in the Atlantic or 4th right behind Louisville. Everybody has been disrespecting Duke for the last few years for their non-con schedule also, but they had quieted the critics from 2 respects--they got to the title game in 2013, and were one game from it last year. Then this year shut down GT at home last week when they were 8 point underdogs. They[Duke] play the same non-con schedule that us & State play.
No. Duke played Northwestern. Northwestern plays in the Big 10 a BCS conference. Northwestern beat Stanford. Northwestern is ranked. Stanford is ranked.
WF will play Notre Dame. Notre Dame is a BCS independent. They are a nationally ranked (and also beat GT).
The point is that unlike every other ACC team: State played no one OOC (Troy, EKU, ODU and USA). The concept is not that hard to grasp. If State crushes L'ville (who played Auburn and Houston and will play KY) on Saturday, all it means is that State lost the opportunity to prove itself on the field by playing a joke of an OOC schedule. The fact that State actually may be good makes the decision to play 4 pathetic teams all of the worse. Playing a pussy OOC schedule is not what legit programs do. It's what teams that know they can't hang with the big dogs do.
NCSU schedule blows this year. Part Lee Fowler being an idiot, part Yow not finding a decent team, part LSU backing out, part DD thinking we were still not very good and being okay. Either way you slice it, it's a shit schedule. Real season starts this week.
It's only a one year thing, have ND and ECu next year and then partnerships with Miss St and WVU in coming years.
