Steve Forbes credibility watch

Anyone suggesting we bench Hildreth for a half against Pitt is a moron. He’s our best on ball defender and really can’t afford to let Hinson bang 6 3s going into halftime. Also this thread is so dumb, let’s just bitch about Forbes after losses. We are fourth most prestigious ACC school in this state, we are fortunate to be in the position we are rn. No one was picking us to win at Duke or UVA so get over it, two huge games this week. Also Bennett may be an HOFer but in the land of NIL UVA will never seriously contend for a natty again, so quit stroking him so damn much

Sending a "team first" message is more important than 20 minutes of good defense that is entirely or mostly outweighed by atrocious offense. 6-29 over the last 3 games.
 
6 games left in the regular season, the only message you sending is we don’t care about winning. And look I’m not disagreeing with it being a bad decision by #20, I just don’t believe it works that way in team sports 2024. We run 7 deep, hildreth is a starter for a reason, ncsu game in Raleigh with the wrist injury may prove to be the tipping point of the season sure, but whether we make it or not to the dance, #20 needs to be out there for 35 mins a game

Agree we need Cam. But Forbes has to reign him in offensively.
 
There appears to be an unanswered question, was there in fact, a set play called when Cam took the ball and attempted the last shot?

If so, there was terrible spacing on the play.

In fact there appeared to be total confusion after the made free throw by UVA. The Wake staff could have taken a few seconds to get the team in position by having a sub ready to enter the game. The time to sub, possibly Carr for Reid, would have been a good move since Bennett dropped all five players back on defense and indicated that he was not giving up a shot near the goal. At minimum, the time to sub someone into the game would have allowed the staff time to set up the person to inbound the ball.
 
The problem is that last time we benched someone (Monsanto) we almost lost to App. Now, we don't have any more Apps on the schedule and can't afford any more losses. That's why you don't let it get to this point to begin with.

The other #20 has been killing us as an offensive liability.
 
I’m guessing it was a more a moment of panic and disorganization by the team rather than Cam saying “F-U Steve I want to be the hero.” That’s not something that warrants a disciplinary benching.

But of course because he has red hair people here won’t give him that benefit of the doubt.
