I think the improprieties were only in the Mahktar recruiting. I don't think there were any on Wake's part with Peral. He simply had to sit out/lose a year in exchange for his (semi)pro experience.

IIRC Maktar's violation was related to the translator keeping contact with Maktar. As noted he transferred to Michigan as ACC rules dictated players can not transfer within conference then he later transferred to UNC.

Peral wasn't related to a violation it was the NCAA not clearing him to play. One of Odom's big recruits during the Duncan years was Bloom who could never get cleared to play by the NCAA.
