Well that’s taxes, so no.Ah. So if the IRS fails to completely collect the taxes, four justices believe California can step in.

rich white folks nowhere near the border love to complain about the border
Nope, you’re talking about Congress’ failure to pass new immigration laws. ICE and other border agencies are still actively doing all that they can within (and often in excess of) existing laws and funding.Stop being lazy and snarky. The federal govt refuses to take up immigration because they can't get anything done to fix a broken system. The borders are only part of the problem.
And self-proclaimed originalists went along with this argument?I agree, but I think the argument was that the federal government had ceded that to the state of Texas via inaction.
So if congressional republicans don’t pass bills, they by default let states enforce whatever they feel like. Problem, solution. So pass a fucking law and fund them. They're working on stopgap executive orders. Give visas to the migrants that we need to keep our economy going, streamline the process for the talented people who come to our universities, and make immigrating to the US, for those who ought to be here, take a few years rather than a lifetime.

I want lots of immigrants who know how to cook awesome things. This is the thing and where folks don’t agree. The history of immigration law is trying to define “who ought to be here” based on racism mostly.

Those all may be great fixes to the immigration “problem” but you even admit that that the 4 justices siding with Texas are obviously wrong when you say “They’re working on stopgap executive orders.” The federal government has obviously not ceded responsibility, the state of Texas simply disagrees with thier tactics. So pass a fucking law and fund them.
