If we are around .500 in the ACC, no way we end up with an RPI down there.

ND looks like they have pretty good pitching, but they can't hit for crap. A sweep would be great. 2 of 3 a musts.
 
Remaining schedule is bruttle. After N.D. everyone is tough with MD & Duke much improved vs last yr.
 
12 home and 6 road games left. And we need the strength of schedule to improve our RPI.
 
With series left against FSU, UNC, State and UVA, WF's strength of schedule will jump. We need to keep winning games.

Wake isn't exactly tearing the cover off the ball this year.....our team BA is .250

on the other hand our pitchers are much improved - team ERA is 3.15 which is slightly inflated because one guy has an ERA of almost 38! our pitchers have only walked 91 guys this season compared to 131 by our opponents.....

defensively - we will need to improve - as a team, we still make too many errors - 43 total thru last night - with a fielding % of .962 (that will need to improve as the schedule get tougher down the stretch) - by comparison our opponents have a fielding % of .973 and have only made 30 errors......

what the stats do not show is how many of those errors resulted in un-earned runs - but errors lengthen innings which ultiamtely cause your staff to throw more pitches which can catch up with you at the end of the season when tournament time rolls around.....

all in all though we have put ourselves in a great position - need to ideally sweep ND
 
Neither State or Carolina is looking nearly as imposing as they were at the beginning of the year. State has lost 8 straight conference games and is at 3-8.

Carolina sits 5-6
 
10-1 now, btm of 7th. Good to see the bats working. 11 innings to go.
 
Kind of surprising how bad ND baseball is this year. IIRC, ND either went to the CWS or lost in a super-regional not that long ago.
 
Yeah ND made it in 2002 to the CWS. Looks like they got beat by Stanford twice but eliminated Rice en route.
 
ND was picked ahead of us in the coaches poll.

Wake up 7-5. 8-4 after 12 games and 7-2 on the road would be REAL nice.

State is about to get swept by Miami at go to 3-9. Carolina is in danger of getting swept by Duke and GT just got swept at Pitt, but won series at UNC and against Miami in their other two. The ACC is nuts this year.
 
Fossas pitches two scoreless innings and Wake gets the sweep 7-5.

Few expected the Deacs to be 8-4 after 4 series (3 on the road).
 
ND is 8-17 (1-11). Awful start for them, sitting at 222 RPI through game one.

BC is at 153 in the RPI, Wake is their only conference win.

Anyway, good job sweeping ND today and getting to 8-4 in the conference. Big games coming up.
 
The key in the tough series is not to get swept. Fischer looks like he gives us a chance every Friday. Would be great to get both midweek games this week. Go Deacs!
 
Maryland at home looks like our "easiest" remaining series and they swept State in C.P. NCSU hard to figure but playing them in Raleigh will not be easy as we got blasted by HRs there last time IIRC. They still have Rodon but must have lost their hitters. Duke is much improved coming from behind yesterday to beat UNC in game 2 after walking in 3 runs for the Heels....won game 1 too.
