NFL Offseason Thread -Tom Brady beats the NFL

Fox to Chicago smells right to me. Seems like they want to end the awkward stat they've never hired someone with HC experience

Wonder if that means Manning is done.

Probably means a better chance that he returns for one more season. He really wasn't keen on the idea of Adam Gase, his OC, leaving to take the 49'ers HC job. This just clears the way for Gase to become Denver's new HC for Peyton's final season. Peyton also admitted today he played the last four games with a torn quad muscle. No way he wants to go out that way.

The "mutual;" parting of the ways between John Fox and Broncos is just the first of many changes in @Broncos

Broncos are not going in house for the replacement. Gase will likely end up with the 49ers if their meeting goes well tonight.

The quad thing is bullshit. To me it looked like his main problem is that he was playing with a 39 year old body.

I mean, damn, 46-18 record gets you fired. Fucking Elway.

It was reported that Fox wanted more control over player acquisitions and the draft, which was an issue. Fox wanted to build the team one way, Elway another way. Also, Fox's teams failed to change over a game and over the season. The one thing that was new was a good RB but Fox/Gase kept calling passes when a bad pass/run ration normally indicated a loss this season. They did the same thing and if another team had the proper personnel, they could stop the Broncos. With the disagreement over player management and the underwhelming performances in the playoffs, that added up to the split between the team and Fox.

tab, what are the odds fox ends up in atl?

I dunno. We supposedly have a second interview lined up with Bowles tomm. If we really lost Rex because he thought we were dragging our feet and went for a sure thing (Arthur Blanks mom died during his interview with Rex, so Falcons re-scheduled for this week, and the Rex flew the coup), then we may want to lock down Bowles so we arent embarrassed twice.

Fox is another defensive guy, so that would fix the mold of what we seem to be looking for.

@AdamSchefter: John Fox declined HC interview with Jets, per NFL source. Hard to imagine turning down one HC chance unless there's real chance for another.

Fox doesn't have to work. He can take a year off if he wants.

Since when was Peyton stripped of the right to change play calls based upon the defense? Peyton has called every play for the Broncos over the last 3 years - not Fox or Gase.
