Bullshit Fox News Says

The Fox website today is hilarious. After beating the drum of the great Hunter Biden scandal for several days, they appear to have given up and now have smaller articles on the page complaining about how no one else is covering this epic Biden scandal except for them, and how that proves that the mainstream media is in the tank for the Democrats: "Liberal media want Biden to become POTUS, cover up report on son’s business deals."

Instead, they've now resorted to complaining about the unfair treatment Dear Leader has received in his first two debates. First Chris Wallace, and then Savannah Guthrie, were just so mean to Trump, while Biden got the kid gloves treatment by liberal ABC. They've got articles from Newt Gingrich about how Guthrie displayed "maniacal hostility" to Trump, an article about how the next debate moderator, Kristen Welker, has "deep Democrat ties" and no doubt will also be biased (already setting up their excuse for Trump's next debate, I suppose), and several articles claiming that 2 of Biden's "undecided" questioners were in fact Democrats, and that ABC's "silence" about this fact just proves that they were secretly trying to help Joe. Isn't Dear Leader just so heroic, taking on the evil mainstream media and their biased moderators with meanie gotcha questions!

Fox News hates it when audience members are not undecided voters!

Audience member nodding along with Trump during NBC town hall goes viral

An audience member seated behind President Trump during his Thursday NBC town hall in Miami went viral on social media after she was seen repeatedly nodding along with his comments and giving a thumbs up.

Trump supporters loved the visual.

The woman, identified by the Miami Herald as Mayra Joli, is an immigration attorney, former beauty queen and pro-Trump activist who ran for Congress in Florida in 2018.

So this audience of undecided voters included someone who ran for Congress and is a pundit for Spanish language news shows.

The least they could do is not have political figures in the audience.

In a normal election year these deflection tactics to irrelevant issues ("Benghazi! Hillary's emails!") might still be effective, but with this pandemic and everything coming from it (shutdown, economic implosion, etc.) it's simply not as effective as usual. You can tell that Fox is somewhat baffled right now - the same old tactics just aren't working this year. There may also be something to what some other posters have said, which is that people outside the GOP base aren't as likely to be diverted by this stuff anymore, as they've seen it too many times.

I think there are plenty of factors in play. The most prominent are definitely the pandemic and economic crisis. But I think a big thing we haven't mentioned as much is that four years later conservatives have painted themselves into a smaller and smaller corner with a smaller and smaller base. Regular people are just more skeptical of what comes from the right-wing media ecosystem and mainstream media doesn't defer to them as much as they used to (although still way too much).

Yep.

In general, Pubs criticize Dems and champion themselves mostly by being highly dishonest. Dems can mostly criticize Pubs by attempting to reveal the truths and effects of their horrible policies.

As Republican lying has escalated under Trump, I think a lot of people have Trump and dishonesty fatigue.

It’s true that Republicans have painted themselves into many corners of irrelevancy and impotence (at best) wrt various policies.

The key thing is how does the rest of the mainstream media respond. They've actually done a pretty good job so far of avoiding publicizing the very dubious Hunter Biden story, which was apparently published over the objection of many reporters and editors at the NY Post (including the reporters who actually worked on the story, and one of them refused to allow his name to printed with it) because they felt the evidence was so flimsy. It's clear that the Murdochs and Trump are desperately trying to hit Biden with some kind of gotcha story that will lead to a dip in his polling numbers, similar to what Comey did to Hillary right before the 2016 election. We'll see if they can get other, non-Murdoch media entities to bite. If they don't, and the story remains limited to Fox and the Journal, it won't do much damage. You can almost feel how frustrated Fox has become in their failure to make the Hunter Biden "scandal" a bigger story, and how resentful they are that they can't get most other media outlets to pick up the story.

Got to wonder how a Fox News analyst could even work from home if Biden is controlling his wi-fi.

I think we are seeing the true victims of "Trump Derangement Syndrome". It's not the people who hate Trump but it's those who support him. They are acting increasingly unhinged and deranged.

A brief list of topics that precede ANY Covid19 coverage on FoxNews' homepage today:

-Kamala asking where she was before speaking to a crowd
-Kanye West's plans to run for governor
-JLaw's 'feud' with Anderson Cooper
-Pastor that peed on a woman in airplane
-speculation on whether Kelly Ripa's date stuffs his pants

... zero headlines regarding the record # of cases reported in the past 48 hours.
