The Democratic Party Left Me Behind

ChrisL far more concerned about Bernie's adherence to the DSA platform than congressional Democrats adherence to the Democrat platform. Interesting.

When your big business corporate Dems are repealing 10 year old investment banking reforms, it's just strategy. When Bernie isn't a full on Marxist, it's hypocrisy. Understood.

Norway I believe, although both countries have a high amount of state owned business. I would absolutely rather live in Norway. More median income, higher standard of living. More freedom.

The nordic model is so effective that a conservative Norwegian cabinet controls a greater percentage of national wealth than the Chinese Communist Party does. It is time for hoser centrists like you to butt out of inter-left arguments and accept the socialist quality of scandinavian socialism

I think we know by now that centrism with the goal of attracting the right doesn’t work in midterm elections. Democrats need to get young people and minorities out to vote. That’s the task. Few centrists present a message that excites a broader coalition. The main centrist tool is this idea that they’ll inevitably win. And people just aren’t assuming that anymore.

It’s disturbing to see Mitch repeat a strategy we know doesn’t work. That’s been the Dem response to the far right. The election of Trump should have made it clear that Pubs gonna Pub and it’s silly to expect them to vote Democrat.

1) I don't think it's determinative; the Sovereign wealth fund was set up w/ North Sea petromoney in the 1990s, after the Norweigan state already owned something like 40% of the shares on the domestic stock market iirc.

2) Who gives a shit? The Bible tells us "the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all" (Ecc 9:11). Just gotta take a shot and hope God's providence is on the side of the US labor movement.
