The Democratic Party Left Me Behind

Yeah. I think most even self-identified socialists world take a modern social democracy in a heartbeat.

Socialism doesnt require a top down planned economy - the foundational belief of socialism is that workers should own the means of production. Democratic and equal ownership is certainly possible within a private business enterprise. What makes that seem unrealistic to people is that

1. The belief that entrepreneurship requires singular ownership
2. The belief that entrepreneurship requires a singular private outlay of capital investment.

A division between ownership and labor is not a requirement for capitalism - in our current economy owners often work, and labor often has ownership investment. Socialism is a regulation of that - a requirement that a workplace muat have Democratic ownership qualities.

I don't view these forces as something to balance or "find the right mix of." Capitalism and socialism are at odds. The reason why DSA is anti-capitalist is that we reject the idea that liberalism is capable of sustaining reforms on capitalism.

Why? It's being done fairly successfully in other countries, no?
