Phillies report selling an additional 340,000 tickets sice the Harper signing. Those sales probably cover at least 1/3 of his salary.

ETA: The 340,000 includes 2,000 season tickets.

Maybe there is a lesson here for Wake AD regarding paying for a good basketball coach whose teams will put fannies in the seats.

But every time I say that, board loons say it's a BS concept.

The annual release of the Mariners commercials are about the best thing they have put out for the last 17 years.

For the first time in 11 years, King Felix will not be starting opening day. Tough sledding in the West for his tenure in Seattle.

It's amazing that no one has signed Keuchel.

Arrieta signed with the Phillies one-year ago today (March 11), and he started the season just over one week late (game 8). This season starts a little earlier than last year; so, Keuchel is now in the danger zone as for each day he doesn't sign, that is part of the season that he will miss which makes him less valuable (teams aren't going to want to pay a pitcher full price for 2019 if he can only pitch part of the season).

Not as much of risk as Kimbrell as it may not take a reliever as long to get ready for a season.

Other notable FAs that have not signed yet:

Carlos Gonzalez
Joey Bats
Bartolo Colon (someone must want Big Sexy)
Yovani Gallardo
Evan Gattis
Gio Gonzalez (starter a playoff game last October)
Chase Headley
Edwin Jackson (was effective for the A's last year)
Austin Jackson
Adam Jones (reportedly close to a deal with D'Backs)
Ryan Madson
Brandon Phillips (beat the Braves last year)
AJ Ramos (closed for the Marlins in 2018)
Jose Reyes (he has sucked for a while)
James Big Game Shields
Tony Sipp (everybody needs a LOOGY)
Danny Valencia
Chris Young

You could field a team with the current FAs and be better than the Orioles.

Adam Jones is a nice pickup for Arizona, especially if they have a bunch of young guys he can mentor.

Mike Moustakas has officially been named the Brewers starting second baseman. Bold move.

Damn. I thought it was one of those “we’ll try him some there during spring training” moves. Still think it’s unlikely he can handle the position defensively. Wild.

Apparently, I completely missed the rule change about the trade deadline that is going into effect - which is only 1 trade deadline on July 31st, no more August deadline. Thats pretty big, the last few years, there have been some big names moved in August - Verlander a couple of years back, last year Donaldson and Cutch moved in August. Should make for an even more hectic July 31st.

I hate this. They should move the trade deadline back then. In other news, it appears rosters will expand to 26 in 2020 and there will be no ridiculous 3 batter minimum.

$430 million. Actually a great deal for both sides. They’re paying him $33.5m this year. Just over $35.8 for the 12 year AAV. Inflation, maybe a new tv deal (not sure LAA TV situation), a most likely a lot more revenue will make this a great deal.
