Fire Him

Never posted on OGB but did so this PM...total despair!

President Reagan once said “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”

I and many others are now asking, Mr Wellman please attempt to restore Wake basketball to its former glory. BUZZ IS NOT THE ANSWER!!!

I have followed Wake athletics since the early 60′s and thought this institution would never repeat the mistake of repeating the debacle of Bob Staak from the ’80s…But alas you have out done your predecessor in retaining Buzz for almost three years!!!

I would hope that you would do the honorable measure by dismissing this coach. If not, you should immediately RESIGN!!!!!!

Do you realize if you were running a public corporation with this type of leadership and immersed in red ink; you would be summarily dismissed…

For the good of all who love WFU Athletics please resign immediately!!!

This guy has to go. Period. I'm an active supporter of the university west of the Mississippi trying to raise our brand (languishing among hundreds). Our reputation on the eastern seaboard as a solid academic institution is known, however, NOTHING gets our brand out to the rest of the nation as much as a successful sports program--in particular our Basketball program. During our climb to number one 4-5 years ago, people out west knew who we were because we were on TV and relevant. When we're on TV, the announcers talk about our school and academic standards, we get to show our promos, people talk about us, see the Joel is rocking, ...athletes learn about us and want to play for us. And..the TV and attendance revenue is flowing. NOW, NADA, ZIP....WE'RE NOT RELEVANT! We've got to stop the bleeding now. FIRE THIS GUY!

Very true. If you believe that one of the primary functions of an athletic department is to market the university, well, our's is failing miserably.

I just counted 14 threads on the first page about Bz, Wellman, and our basketball program. Dear god I can't go through this again next year.

Alcohol helps... up until a point. Might need to move to meth next year...

Thanks. It's every department's (and good alum's) role to market the university :). Athletic department is HUGE in that area. When else do we see video promos of the university (or any univ) on TV???...That's right, during sporting events. Less TV time, less university promo time, less money, less talented athletes (and faculty?), etc., etc., etc.

We're so irrelevant and unwiped that channel 9 in Charlotte didnt even give the final score during the 10pm newscast
but I guess the good news is-no film clips of that excuse of a bball game.
Thanks Ron.

Oh, btw, Gardner Webb got some good press tonight though.
Mercy. Uncle, UNCLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I deserve all the tags. But it's pretty cool to bump into Shannon Sharpe and some of the Falcons from time to time.

Sharpe is a fucking freak of nature. I cannot imagine tackling that guy in his prime.

This is no effeminate pussy spin shit. This is real exercise and there is a reason world class athletes do it.

It's hopeless. He's Wellman's boy. I don't give $100k a year and have no influence over this nightmare, so I no longer give a fuck. I never thought I'd say that but there it is.

So did anyone go nuts within earshot of Wellman in section 107 today?

Good point. THIS would have been a good week for a protest.

I'm going to be there next Sat. vs Miami and will gladly join in on some chants. RedSoxFaithful said he was going too.

Most times when I think Buzz made a poor coaching move I realize after some thought that it was actually the right decision and that my anti-Buzz mindset clouds my judgement. The 2-for-1 at the end of the game is a perfect example.

He's fine from an X's and O's perspective BUT he can't inspire his players at all and this is why he needs to go.

This is a post that deserves further analysis. I completely understand the 2-for-1 red herring, but what about having our only real 3-pt threat inbounding the ball under similar circumstances against BC? What about the final play with GT that consisted of CJ getting the ball in (I think) the backcourt and driving to the rim facing 3-4 defenders and throwing a desperation pass to the corner? Is BZ really "fine from an X's and O's perspective?" At crunchtime, with all of Dino's faults, he had a knack for drawing up solid plays that got the right guys open looks. You could say, "Yeah, but he had Ish," to which I would say, "We have CJ." With a better coach, with all the promise CJ showed during his first season, imagine where he would be now. To me, that's the saddest part of Wellman's experiment.

Yall would be surprised how big of a difference bourbon makes. Who cares? He won't be gone till Wellman gets tired of feeling Bzz's cock up his ass.
