CBM: X-Men '97; Deadpool and Wolverine trailer

I think it would be necessary to get out MOS2 and Wonder Woman before doing Justice League. Don't see a need to make a solo Batman movie. Would love to see a solo Lex Luthor movie as a "evil" version of Tony Stark.

JLA still faces a lot of logistical problems, I think. Namely how to handle WW and Batman. Do you bring back Ryan Reynolds as GL, or maybe use one of the other incarnations (Stewart or Radner)? How about Green Arrow? Then do characters like Martian Manhunter fit in this universe?

MOS down to 74% on Rotten Tomatoes now, actually 9% lower than the Seth Rogen stoner apocalypse movie that comes out tomorrow.

Still got my MOS IMAX 3D tickets for Saturday though. Looking forward to it.

Uh-oh. I plan to catch a matinee of this sometime this weekend.

I wouldn't be too concerned about MoS. The average rating is still good, and the negatives are odd, because some of them are rated 3/5 and B-, ratings that would normally be positive. I think it's also suffering from a backlash against Nolan (claims of it being too "serious," too much like Batman begins, and Cavill never smiling as Superman like Christopher Reeve did (seriously, one review said this)), and some critics' dislike of Snyder because he is a visceral/spectacle filmmaker, and favors the image over the "story."

The negatives so far that I can see are it doesn't have enough character development (can we get rid of this critique already? It's such a meaningless thing to say), and the final action scene is "too loud" (lol)/goes on too long (this didn't seem to bother them in Avengers), and uses too many experimental camera techniques (how is this a negative?). So in summary it sounds like Snyder and company took some risks, and critics are mad that they didn't have Supes throwing out a quip every two seconds to "lighten the mood."

The Variety review says it's too much CGI action like Thor and The Avengers. Well I enjoyed the shit out of both of those movies, so their negative review was a glowingly positive review for me.

So critics, who spent the late nineties and early 2000's (even up to Green Lantern) bashing comic hero flicks for being too campy are now saying these movies aren't campy enough?

Got it.

I don't understand the point of reading reviews. Who cares what some stuck up ninny thinks? If it looks like you'll like it, see it. If not, don't. Or at least wait for someone you know - whose opinion is familiar - to see it.

i think they disabled it but the best part of rotten tomatoes was reading the people attacking the "professional "reviewers.

i used quotes because they are paid to review how professional they are is up for interpretation

Yeah but then you may be waiting until Saturday or Sunday and you may get spoiled.

I'm actually really surprised at MOS's mediocre Tomatometer. It's down to 68% after 50 reviews. For comparison's sake, Star Trek Into Darkness is at 87% and Iron Man 3 scored a 78%. Even Superman Returns' 3 hours of hot ass scored a 74%.

The general complaints seem to be too much action, not enough character development, devolves into a generic action flick. Whatever, I'm still excited for it.
