New Black Sabbath out NOW! It's on Spotify so I'm listening as I type.

This National show tonight might be a disaster with this weather.

The weather was fine and The National delivered an excellent show last night. Also appreciate Matt sharing one of his bottles of wine with us.

Big fan of the venue.

This. Awesome venue. Wasn't all that high on the show, but I also liked High Violet wayyy more than Trouble. Encore finish with Terrible Love/Vanderlyle was stunning, though.

As for the weather: Could there have been any more perfect weather for a National concert than an overcast?

As for Dirty Projectors (who I actually wanted to see more than the National, but whatever): I got there super late and only caught three tracks. They seemed to kill it... Amber's yelping in "Bitte Orca" did not translate well to giant amphitheater speakers, though. A little grating.

Matt was freaking hammered last night. Usually he drinks and gets drunk as the show moves on. Nope, not last night, came out stumbling and mumbling from the get go. All in all, a very good show and I was pleasantly surprised how well the new songs played live. 'Graceless' was a show stopper!

Here's the full set list:

Did they play Sorrow? It was on the original encore setlist, and on that link this morning, but removed later this morning. Don't think they did.

Matt must have gotten hammered at Poole's Diner before the show. He did get his wine from Poole's. Sat behind the chef/owner Ashley Christensen. She couldn't have been nicer.

They did not.

The Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater is a really great place to see a show. The sound is good (unlike Cary's Koka Booth Amphitheater) and the setting is really ideal. I'm going to Charlotte's this weekend to see the XX and Grizzly Bear, and looking forward to seeing how it is set up.

Really liked both the National and the Dirty Projectors. The National are at the point now where they just have so many good albums and songs, you're just about guaranteed a solid show. I thought the Dirty Projectors sounded fantastic. A shame that they came on while it was still light outside with a late arriving crowd.

Never been to Red Hat Amp. Going to see Warren Haynes and the NC Symphony do the Garcia tribute next Thursday.

Awesome, they're doing that show up in Philly too with the Philly Pops. My buddy's dad plays tenor sax and will be in this performance.

I kinda hate The Mann Center bc it's hard to get to out in west philly, but I'm very excited about the show, and then Furthur and Phil and Friends not too long after that.

Charlotte's downtown amphitheater is cool too, but I did enjoy Red Hat more. More intimate plus better/more concessions, restrooms, etc. Truly in the middle of downtown. We drove in to town shortly after 5 and we heard The National playing Slow Show during soundcheck. It was clear and loud even from our car. I feel like you could hang out within a block of that place during a sold out show and enjoy the music for free.

How is Sigur Ros? The only song I know is that creepy one from Vanilla Sky, but I'm intrigued and want to go. Seems like it would be a total reefer show.
