LOCK, DELETE.

no, and like i said, asche wasn't ready at the beginning of the season, so that wasn't a bad signing. plus, if revere is your guy in center, it makes sense not to go back to pierre. i was just comparing guys' value.

but pierre could have ostensibly played left and been a better option than the more expensive d. young, though you're trading OBP/defense for power.

Don’t forget that Rube was relying on scouts that had seen Delmon play six years ago for his opinion that Delmon could play right field even though he clearly sucked in left. That whole thing was like a slow-motion train wreck that everyone but the Phillies front office could see coming.

Or, we could have kept the oft-injured Placido Polanco for some absurd amount like 5.5 mil, and signed no third baseman.

Ruben apparently chose the 1 mil buyout. That, in it's own right, was probably not a bad move. What happened subsequently is a different matter.

Was at the Phils/Braves game yesterday. Not only was the first Gattis homerun a complete bomb, but it absolutely destroyed some woman who was walking along Ashburn Alley. Blasted her right in the leg and she went down like a house of cards. Also was sitting in the row where Ruf's homer landed, but in the scuffle for the ball, some mook in a tank top came running over and snagged it.

Enjoyed seeing Asche play 3B in person - he made a few difficult plays seem quite routine.

The other option for 3rd would’ve been to start Kevin Frandsen or Freddy Galvis. Their offense kind of sucks, but their defense makes them roughly equivalent to Michael Young at a fraction of the cost.

Frandsen did play some third. Should definitely be on the 25 next year. Galvis is SS in waiting. He should have been sent down.

Once he was back up, he did something that no one has ever done. But it means nothing. 162 games is a long, long time.

There's no downside to playing him and Hernandez in the outfield. Find out now, rather than later.

Average MLB hitter has .717 OPS. Red Sox are getting better production from all nine (!) lineup slots.

idk, the bosox hitters don't seem that good to me

Avalon, I remember a game early this season with DY in right and Howard at first. Chase was shading up the middle and there was a Bermuda Triangle pop-up down the right field line. Delmon playing deep, of course, came running in like he was wearing shackles. Howard going back like he was wearing shackles.

Chase was on his horse, but he had too far to go. It ended up as Delmon's ball, but he over-ran it, reached back with his meat hand on the bounce, bludgeoned it and had to run back from where he had come in order to get it. I think the guy ended up with a triple on a pop-up.

I remember thinking then that the right side defensive deficiencies were going to be problematical. Two starters that should still be in re-hab.

Nothing went a whole lot right after that. It wasn't the best way to start.

not reading this, but it's dumb. i still stand by my ideal setup for mlb.

add 2 teams (one al, one nl). elimate IL play. 2 divisions in each league. balanced schedule. 4 teams make it from each league (2 div winners and 2 wcs). add double headers in the regs season. all series 7 games in playoffs. done and done. deacphan 4 commish 2015.

I like this, btw, I am considering giving you my vote. Where will the new teams go? I wonder if another team in Canada could do well, assuming they weren’t awful.

Oh no, expansion draft!

(Don't mind me, just catching up on old posts.)

charlotte and portland get thrown around. brooklyn would be dope and could support a team.

would you give BK the dodgers back and make LA change their name?

Travel would be tough, but a team in Puerto Rico would be interesting. OK City (given history with CWS) seems like a good fit, New Orleans, Charlotte, Portland could all work.
