WF -3.5 Over Army -- Predictions?

There is something to be said for a team having an identity. Army may not be good, but at least they have an identity. They know who they are. They run. We have no idea who we are. We have no identity.

Quitting again?????-----Sources say the team has already quit---given up--don't care, except for about 5 players.

If our defense can shut out Army and if our defense can score points, then we will win.

By "sources" you mean "the eyes of anyone who's watched for five minutes," right?

What kind of coaches lose a team a game into the season?

I did say the same about BC. I think we have more talent and I stand by the fact that I think we should have beaten them (and ULM for that matter). We're roughly a toss up with both BC and ULM on a neutral field. We're about a touchdown better than Army on a neutral field and Army is statically the second worst team we play - behind only Presbyterian.

I expect Wake to come out and win this one, predominantly because I think the defense is going to shut the option attack down.

Baylor is a 28 point favorite against ULM this weekend. Hard to stomach that Baylor has continued its rise, while Wake seems to be regressing. ULM and BC should have both been wins for Wake.....just let Tanner throw the damn ball, and 8 out of 10 of his throws should be to Camp....

Installing the option was such a waste of time. If we had spent the time returning to cut blocking we would be 3-0 and not bothering with these threads.

This is such a good point. Not only is the option offense bad, but it took precious time away from actually working on productive things. Now when we need to Tanner to throw the ball in a last ditch effort to pull a game out, he is terribly unprepared to do so. A good passing game takes lots of repetition.

The assumption is that our OL is talented enough to cut block effectively. I'm not sure that is the case.

IMO, Grobe lost this team somewhere between the beginning and/or the middle of last season. You do remember the still here group that Camp referenced plus those who opted to smoke dope in-season, right ? No consequences, no accountability, no clean-up.

All I know is those Clemson fans alive in '81 will wonder if this year is the Wake Forest of old and will they approach 82 points. This is Grobe's worst team and has the chance to be one of theworst in our history. Our recent 3-9 was worse D in Grobe era and that team allowed points similar to Mills '74 team that was the butt of jokes for years. If Grobe goes 1-10 that will be a strong argument that Wake fb has fallen back to this level

This year's team is not remotely close to "the worst in our history." It's not even really that close to the 2010 team.

You sure about that? So far, they look at least as bad.

I don't think we're as bad as 2010. But with waaaaay more veteran players than we had that year, we shouldn't even be in the same universe as that team

24-10 Army - The offensive juggarnaut that Lobo has crafted rolls on.

In 2010, we beat Presby handily and beat bad Duke and Vandy teams.

In 2013, we eventually beat Presby and lost to likely bad BC and ULM teams.

It's too early to say for sure 2013 is worse than 2010 but I don't see how you can argue 2013 is better.

Yep absolutely right. Which is worse because he has months to address it and failed to.

Last season somehow we ended up at 5-7 and, iirc, even had a legitimate chance at getting to 6 wins and a bowl game, but something just felt off. No energy. No passion. You got the sense that we were actually worse than our mediocre record suggested, helped by the ACC having a pretty bad year (outside of FSU and Clemson). Because of that, I didn't quite understand the optimism coming into this season. While I never thought it was going to be this bad, I absolutely don't understand how people, especially Grobe, can be blindsided by it. He had his senior leaders calling out the team and the coaching staff last December!

They played us tough last year. This will be the first test for our defense to see if we've really improved or if the 2nd half of last year was just a fluke.

I see the entire BSD staff has predicted a win over Army. I'll go ahead and predict a loss, then, because someone should be giving Army its due.

Player "measurables": advantage Wake
Player football talent: advantage Army
Team identity: advantage Army
Team coaching: advantage Army
Team motivation: advantage Army
Team morale: advantage Army
Home team: advantage Army

Air Grobe returns. 38-21 Deacs. If not, it'll be early hibernation.
