Black & Gold Madness Observations...

Naturally the best part was #BillMotoGang.
It just pains me to see him forced to play the 4 when he is so clearly a swingman. Once Travis graduates, the next coach better stick Bill at the 3 and leave him there. A Moto/Devin/Haas frontcourt is at least encouraging, although I'm afraid our lack of shooting will hurt us. Is it sad I'm already looking ahead to next season?

Hamming it up for the fans is nice for programs that are doing well. I'm not saying a scrimmage should be super serious or anything, but it would be nice to see highlights of actual basketball. I don't remember any of the Black & Gold/Midnight Madness games looking like an alley oop fest.

The info about Overton is disappointing.

It was clear they wanted a top 2g for next season. CMM wants to stay at point, so Rondale come on down.

Who gives a shit about them ball hogging in a glorified skills exhibition game. What are we really trying to learn here? Are you guys being serious?

Meh. Moto is a 4 in the college game.

What in God's name have Hatch, Wellman and [Redacted] done to our basketball program

1) The guy who hit the half court shot looks like he's about 40.

2) What was going on with the black border on the gym floor? It didn't match the court. The "baseline" wasn't under the basket - it looked like it was at about the foul line area. Were they playing cross-court?

3) Is that Coron wearing 13? Who was the last non-scrub to wear #13 for Wake? I can't think of one.

Seriously. There used to be so much excitement surrounding basketball. I remember the line stretching up and around the tennis courts out of Reynolds my sophomore year (2005 ball season) for "midnight madness". This whole new era of suck honestly makes me feel like we'll never get that excitement back. Even after CP left there was still a measureable level of excitement because there was always something to look forward to. Not any more. This is what Bzz and Wellman have done to me. It's so depressing. Literally nothing to look forward to.

were you guys there when they tried to give out tons and tons of pepsi blue at one of these things? that shit was a mixer at parties for like a full semester

Oh yeah. That stuff was nasty. There were crates of it just sitting outside untouched and plenty of almost full open bottles.

Should have kept some. People are trying to sell them for $100+ on EBay.

That was our first time seeing the Big E/JGray class in Black & Gold. Good times.

2009 Duke game

I think it was a block. Yeah. A block.

Five seasons ago. Those clips from Duke-Wake were only 5 seasons ago. That's how long it takes to completely destroy a basketball program.

from the baseline angle of the student hitting the half courter you can see one of the women's players fall down as she rushes in to celebrate

(2:00 minute mark of video)
