poisoned well

i'm sure we all wanted to win games more than grobe did. grobe just took a dump in the mouths of the idiot fans. it's going to take most of them a few years to realize it though. good for grobe. he deserved better than he's been getting.

You think this fan base has been hard on Grobe? Give me a damn break. 95% of schools would've treated him worse than we have

You're seriously fucking deranged.

I like the theory that in reality Wellman told Grobe make changes, especially Lobo as coordinator and he refused and went with resign instead. Though it did look like this season he was on a farewell tour.

What about Wellman makes anyone think he made Lobotzke an issue?

Either really stupid or trolling. I'll go with the latter.

He could have jumped ship for Arkansas . He earned that salary .

And if you think that the fans poisoned the well you can only imagine how Grobe would have been treated for similar results at Arkansas.

At worst, at least if we are going to be average or worse, we'll pay our coach like that and not among the highest in conference.

Yep. I feel very good about a basketball coaching change occurring after this season with the freed up money.

Even if you assume $0.5-$1.0M annual buy out for a few years, $1.2M for a new football coach (and less for his assistants than our tenured ones have been making after Grobe negotiated his assistants salaries up), we can pay a new basketball coach upwards of $1.5M while keeping our overall coaching salaries around where they have been. $2M+ if we think we'll have a bit extra from the tv contracts and the extra amounts that would come in the form of fans actually showing up. That brings a lot more potential coaches in play, and these decisions can't be made in a vacuum from an AD's financial perspective.

Hopefully we can assume you won't be attending any games under the new regime? I love Jim Grobe but it was time. All good things come to an end.

I'll take Jim Grobe for AD over Ron Wellman any day. Make it happen Dr. Hatch.
Seriously? Grobe has stuck with his "friends" (and style of play) that aren't producing longer than Wellman. If you think Wellman practiced cronyism to a fault, I don't think Grobe would be better.

Hoss, I liked your post until you mentioned financial perspective...Not with Sticky Finger CatStevens running the show and expected fuzzy math, with misappropriated funds...

Maybe we can whore ourselves out to break the bank for a coach we all swore we hated the way tOSU did.

Understand Dilllon's point. A large segment of the fanbase appeared to have no appreciation for what WF football was like prior to Grobe's arrival.

5 straight losing seasons has never been acceptable, and never should be.

Was this season much different than a standard pre-Grobe season? Sure there were closer games in a weak ACC...but lots of losses just the same.

I think Grobe was a great coach for Wake. I think he set a great standard going forward, one which he did not want to damage given all the missteps this season.

Grobe raised the standard for WF Football. Just because he raised the standard doesn't mean he shouldn't be held to that standard.
