Welcome Dave Clawson - 430PM Presser (Clawson Wins Presser, OGB Gets E-Boners)

I've seen his coordinators names mentioned as candidates for other jobs like Elon. If Lembo isn't an offensive savant himself, how replaceable is his offensive coordinator if he gets hired as a head coach somewhere?

Skrosky (OC) wants no part of a head gig. He's not the CEO. He wants his locus of control. Bateman (DC) May, but he's the more replaceable of the two and may very well not want to head coach either. I just know about Skrosky.

Lembo: Listen...so I heard that your program has limited the food available to recruits and all I am asking for is that we we increase the food recruiting budget so that I can compete with other programs.

Wellman: Actually our psychological and sociological studies show that recruits that are comfortable with having limited portions on recruiting visits are more likely to be submissive and cooperative. I think that sets the right foundation of culture that we need.

Lembo: You can't be serious. I'll pay for the extra food budget for recruits myself then if that is what I have to do.

Wellman: No. I can't accept that. Also, you have to publicly support the basketball coach and go to all of his games and tell everyone that he is the most impressive basketball coach you have ever known.

Lembo: You have to be kidding me. That clown. Go fvck yourself.

Last I checked, those paper tigers bit BSU by 3 TDs.

Last I checked you must not have watched the game. Tie game with 3 minutes left, NIU TD, then a pick 6, then a downs turnover and NIU running it up for another score. Think what you like or go watch it. It's on espn3. Then tell me just how much better NIU is.

BTW, Bzz doesn't have a brother or relative that's coaching high school ball now does he? Could be RW's big "surprise"!.....

FWIW Ball State was down 7 with under 4 min vs NIU. Went for it on fourth down didn't get it. NIU went to run up the score and add a late td instead of running out the clock. Then BSU qb threw a pick 6 on the last play of the game. It was very close all game and the score was a lot bigger than how the game was actually played.

So let's say Lembo walks because Wellman won't commit to major upgrades in facilities, budgets, etc. as requested. What makes us think these same issues won't derail discussions with Clawson? I'm guessing he is committed to winning just as much as Lembo.

The reason I asked

"■ Ball State defensive coordinator Jay Bateman and offensive coordinator Rich Skrosky remain under consideration for the job at Elon, where they served as the top lieutenants to Lembo during his successful run with the Phoenix from 2006-2010.

■ If Wake Forest chooses to hire Lembo, then Bateman and Skrosky likely would join him in Winston-Salem.

■ Skrosky, though, figures to be a replacement option for Ball State if Lembo leaves. Skrosky’s prolific offenses have become an endearing quality in his favor at Ball State.

■ And Bateman could be compelled by the pull to return to Elon. His tough-guy persona on the field resonated with Elon players and his genial nature off the field connected with the school’s supporters during his time there. Bateman also still owns a house in Gibsonville and his wife is from Danville, Va."

He did sound pretty eager to bounce in his presser last night...

From Skrosky's bio:

"coached the offensive line under Ball State head coach Pete Lembo at Elon from 2006-08 and was promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2009 and 2010 seasons"

Who was the OC at Elon before Skrosky moved up?

Seems like 3 TDs better, but I guess scoreboards don't matter. Fwiw, I like Lembo better, but I think you have some obvious bias about the comparison between these two coaches. Clawson has won a conference title. His guys at UR essentially won a NC while Lembo's Elon team fell in the crapper. Those are facts that certainly work in Clawson's favor. It's hard to deny that.

If we get neither of these guys we know RW "cheaped out" - would not surprise me at all.

Bateman would really be the only candidate to end up at Elon from that group. Skrosky will go where Pete goes.

My question is, why the fuck would Clawson come for cheaper? He just won a title.

This search is botched. Wellman fucked up again. He needs to go now. He's the worst ad in the country. Thanks otp and best luck. Fuck you Ronnie you shit bag

Thanks, sounds like holding on to Skorsky would have to be a priority for Wake. But I'm glad to hear that he's not itching to take over his own program.

I can't believe Wellman is on the verge again of choosing a lesser candidate because of his need for control and things his way. If you're not hiring the best coach because of the things mentioned above then you should probably be fired. You play to win the game. If Lembo is the best candidate and will get us winning, while staying clean, then he's the guy. I love WF but I don't know how much more Wellman I can take. That it has even gotten to this point is beyond ridiculous.

I'm still confused about what facilities we are unwilling to update. We are raising money to update the locker room and strength and conditioning facilities. How is that not showing commitment? Because we won't put it on the AmEx and build it now?
