No doubt the share of the revenue pie has increased, but those funds could already be earmarked for capital projects or committed to non-revenue sports.

Who knows for sure? I surely don't but I'm also not naive enough to think Wake is hoarding a big pile of cash thanks to the increased TV revenue.

The real issue is that if Wellman really thought (a) $1M would get it done or (b) $1M would allow him to throw people off his trail of bungling, then he has seriously lost it.

We won't know what's what until we get the announcement, and there's just no way Wellman can be so clueless (right?). I'm holding out hope we get one of the two guys.

Again, Wellman and everyone else who matters just have to know that an uninspired hire would be the end of WFU sports interest. WFU and Wellman would be the subject of even more ridicule and bad press. There is just no way that the numbers don't support a higher salary, given all the positives that would result.

Because it's nothing more than blaming those DAMN LOUD POORS. As other have pointed out, revenue shouldn't be a problem right now, despite the (probable) decline in DC memberships, donations, and season tickets. TV $$$ is swell. Further, we just got let off the hook with Grobe's deal. Unless that money has already been earmarked for some other project(s), what the hell are we doing playing around with our supposed no. 1 coaching target like this?

Well there are increased revenues associated with hiring a good coach. That will more than make up the salary difference compared to if we hire Buzzfootball.

That's fucking stupid. As has been stated ad nauseum, we have plenty of TV money. Further, the only reason DC memberships and ticket sales are down is because we have an incompetent AD. You know that - don't be a fucking moron.

...and by the way, nothing's "down." Remember, Wellman told us as much - 3% increase in donations and "wonderful" attendance figures. So what's your story now?

Buckets: Is it your best guess that we have moved on to Clawson and Lembo-to-Wake is dead? Or just impossible to tell w/ Wellman at the controls?
 
Bottom line then: the RW is doing a piss poor job of managing the AD budget.

...and Hatch should be holding him accountable.....
