Our Next BB Coach or #MannUp + other coach talk

Archie is okay. Dayton is a decent program historically and he hasn't done anything special. They play slow and he's super annoying in general.

Any chance we'd look at Jim Crews at St. Louis? He's old and white and coached at Army, so seems like a Wellman kinda guy.

I think it would be a poor hire. St. Louis has been excellent last year and this year but they have been very veteran teams (30th and 7th in most experienced) full of players brought in by Majerus. Crews has essentially no recruiting track record.

Might Wellman would look at him....I have no idea.

I don't like him at all. I'm afraid he fits Wellman's criteria though.

During the NFL coaching carousel several analysts correctly pointed out that teams universally gravitate towards hiring a coach that is opposite of the one they just fired. I think we saw a little bit of that with Bz after Dino. We can only pray that theory holds true with this search!

Crews is bkf's boi. Would be a massive twist the the OGBoard narrative if nothing else.

Can't miss this hire. Bz has this program looking unsalvageable. Are slappys even expecting this team to win 2 more games?

Was in the mood for some wishful thinking and caught up with this thread. Nice work.

Talked to a DONK buddy of mine who LOVES mid-major college basketball. Lives at home, no job, just studies college ball. His favorites are Archie, Lonergan, Anthony Grant, and Leon Rice.

In summary, nothing to add, but it makes me feel better after last night.

That's how I was in college. Now I just don't have the time or energy because Bz has sucked my love for college hoops.

Sounds like the boards do some good research then.

I don't know if these names have been suggested, but here are some lower level guys that have impressed me.

Dr. John Giannini (Lasalle)
Chris Mooney (Richmond)
Steve Pikiell (Stony Brook)

Little outside the box
Pat Chambers (Penn State) - Winning at PSU is next impossible. I think he's actually a good coach in a bad situation.

Lonergan would be one hell of a hire. And he has small, private school experience. He faces off with Shaka tonight at 7. Should be a fantastic game if you love college hoops. I'll be watching.
