is Florida really considered the same type of job as Duke, Carolina and Kansas?

Shaka would go back to Florida if Billy D left. Jeremy Foley is the best AD in the game, it's been proven that you can win national titles there, and the only real problem in the conference is UK.

You throw in no state tax and the fact that it's in the state of Florida and it's a very attractive job.

I doubt that Ron will go for a more established coach because of the costs. Ron, as his statements and his enablers make clear, is now mainly concerned about the bottom line, if for no other reason, than the fact that his performance everywhere else can be disputed. So, expect a younger coach who is cheaper but makes a good impression. The result will not be known for a couple of years but by then someone else will have to find a replacement and money will have been saved. If he works out, Ron gets the credit. If he does not work out, someone else will get the problem. Ron, no matter what, will get to dispose of the money saved.

Right. Just like Spurrier did in the early 90's, Billy D woke up the sleeping giant.

Talent from there is consistently underrated, too

Nothing really exciting tonight. Mike White should roll, that's about it.

Gary Parrish, Jeff Borzello and co. discuss coaches on the hot seat and devote a few mins to our situation, starting around the 19-minute mark.

Basic summary: none of them can see Buzz being around for a 5th season. They referred to us as a "storied program--this is where Chris Paul went to school for crying out loud." Borzello said that he thinks no other fanbase wants their coach gone more than we do (whoop whoop!).

Thanks, OJ. Pretty good segment.

Michael White down 9 at the half. :willynilly: Let's see some halftime adjustments, Mike.

Pretty significant loss for White if they can't turn this around (down 6 at the under 4 TO @ECU). Likely knocks La Tech out of any at large NCAA consideration.

ETA: Lost by 7

I was about to throw out Louisville as a possible ACC job that might open within the next few years, but just learned that Pitino is only 61. For some reason I always took him for much older than that (perhaps due to his vague resemblance to Skeletor).

Would have thought the same thing. He was 25 when he got his first head coaching job at Boston University. 32 at Providence. 35 with the Knicks, 37 at Kentucky. Only 44 when he started coaching the Celtics.

About the same age as Bz. Similar track records, too.

Again, Gregg Marshall. He wins everywhere and he would win here. Plus, I think he would enjoy kicking UNC and Duke ass.

What would Wake have over WSU? The only thing I can think of is concern for the conference and the effect that may have on recruiting. WFU would be a much tougher place to make the NCAA tourney. WSU I also believe is an extremely well funded school so money-wise I doubt we can give an offer they can't match.
