The case for retaining Ron Wellman.

"Ron Wellman owes WF players and fans an apology for a wasted season."

"Ron Wellman could have fixed this last year. He doubled down and kept bzz despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary. "

Arrogance and incompetence from RW.

Incompetence from Nathan Hatch.

Incompetence and/or indifference from the BOT.

MSD is suffering from an appalling lack of leadership. How did we get to this contemptible state of affairs?

Instead of "Proud to Be a Deacon" "dignity, class, integrity"
It's "Proud to Be WF Management" "arrogance, incompetence, indifference"

Run ads during the ACCT
Humiliate that loser

No more ads. We've reached the point where it's a given that Bz is gone and we will be looking for a new coach. Let's not do anything to negatively affect that.

Well said...

@ VTwhat - Can you reword that logo as suggested by IslandDeac? This would be an excellent ad for the newspaper to kick off the ACCT.

There is absolutely no reason to believe that is true. In fact, events of the last few years would indicate otherwise. Newspaper ads during the ACCT need to occur again...

It's not 2007 anymore. If this guy went all-in on Buzz, why aren't Wake Forest stakeholders entitled to collect?

Who is #Wellmanin at this point?

I'll admit it. I am. I think he made a mistake, I'm sure he knows it, and will be fixing it in the next month.

I'm also one of the few people around here that believes he had no choice but to give him 4 years after deciding to fire Dino after 3. You can't take the chance of developing a rep of a guy with a quick trigger finger. Firing Bz after 3 years would have opened us up to that. Sucks for us, but a fact of reality.

I think we are very well positioned to land a great coach. If the best we can do is Archie Miller, Brett Reed or some other logical, boring. candidate then I obviously will change my tune w/r/t Wellman.

So I continue to support Wellman. But this is a career defining hire for him.

I think he should go, but the case for retaining Wellman is actually very easy to make. He simply can't hire a HC based on a hunch, gut feeling, friendship, etc. He put himself in a position where he has to hire an on-paper lock to succeed in this league. With his back to the wall, he got that guy with Clawson. With little or no latitude in making the basketball hire, he can likely do it again. Even if he is given some discretion with the hire, he knows he has to knock this one out of the park.

Bottom line is I would rather have Wellman, who has actually made some good hires in the past, making the next hire than someone else in WF's AD or a new guy.

If he not only hired [Redacted], but hired him knowing that the next coach was going to have to get four years, that is even more reason for Ron to go. If you're going to let your hands be tied for four years, it sure can't be by someone with [Redacted]'s track record/personality.

Well, he kept Caldwell 2 years too long. He let Odom go after 2 ACC titles. In fact after his 1st title he would not re-up his contract at 5 years for $500,000 per so it took his 2nd title to get it done and then it cost 5 years at $750,000 per. He got rid of George Greer after his first losing season after his run of 3 ACC titles [imagine that now with Bz happening, but no he was his hire]. His hire of Rem didn't work in baseball, his hire of Bz has certainly not worked. So the RW track record is only Jim Grobe. Everything else was already in place. He wanted rid of Diane Dailey but didn't get his way & she stayed & won 2 ACC women's golf titles. Just saying what has the athletic world seen in this guy?

Is this a real piece of marketing produced by the AD? Please tell me it is not and you just photoshopped this. Because if this is real, it is revoltingly pathetic. Why does our AD trumpet "intergrity" like we among all schools in the country have the #$%ing market cornered on it? Is this really what we are reduced to? Praising our own "dignity"? What a joke.

I am not often in agreement with TheReff but he made a good call on this post.

100% official. They've given out stickers with this design at football games and the stadium announcements have made reference to dignity, class, integrity before as well.
I took the picture from WF Sports' desktop wallpaper section.
