Nobody would bat an eye at Shaka making big money, especially in Richmond. It also helps that he's in a state that isn't run like a circus (Oh hey, California) and could probably handle a salary increase for the biggest recruiting force at its biggest in state institution.

You mean the state that has the 7th largest economy in the world and is on its way to a surplus?

VA's economy is significantly dependent on sucking at the Feds' teat to make their economy work.

Isn't that five years old? That non sequitur aside, do you take issue with the logic behind someone who lives in VA and actually works at VCU telling you that there wouldn't be a meltdown if Shaka got a raise? Or are we incapable of taking someone's more informed opinion?

I wasn't talking about just a raise. My number is $3.25-4M/year. That's a bit more than just a "raise". His pay would be about 130-160% of the cost of the are building they putting up.

If you don't think it'll have impact outside of VCU, then you really don't get how politics and money work. Even if they raised the money corporately, there would be huge howls about it.

The only reason we are having a CA/VA discussion is because you felt the need to start it.
 
Add VA State politics and University system to RJ's wheelhouse.
