I've said for awhile that Jeff Capel would be a great fit with Wake Forest. Outstanding recruiter, obviously knows the area.
 
Capel would be going from unwiped ass to partially wiped SWAMP ASS. DO NOT WANT!

Notice how Wellman mentions "tournaments"- means we're looking at NIT/CBI guys as well. Terrified we're gonna have a shitty hire. Just fucking call Howland already.
 
Not really a suggestion for a coach.... this is for Wellman.... but I like the way BC's AD Brad Bates is going about his search, being PUBLIC with non-confidential general info. I realize Wellman is WAY behind the times but I'm posting some of Brad's tweets. Hear they're making a run at Amaker. The Wake job is way better than the BC job but for Amaker BC has the added advantage of not requiring a move for him and his family.

I may be the only one who doesn't hate the Capel. He ran into some problems in Oklahoma because he recruited some 5* primadonnas. Similar to Howland (though with less success). Aside from those issues his record is pretty promising. He brought VCU to prominence.

ETA: He's certainly below Howland or the top tier guys but compared to someone like Amaker it seems like they are comparable.
 
Not interested in Capel. I would not trust him to whole heartedly compete against K on the recruiting trail. I think their sycophancy runs frighteningly deep.
 
I don't think even Ronald Wellman is crazy enough to hire a dude who went 13-18 and 14-18 in his final 2 seasons at Oklahoma.
 
Archie Miller may be the next Wake coach. He coaches in Ohio which Wellman seems to love and he just won a tournament game over Ohio State.

In the 12 years of Kenpom era, Capel coached the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th best teams during his 4 seasons. Grant and Smart have all 1-8

Q. When will the new coach be in place?
A. Most of the candidates that we will be speaking with will be involved in postseason play. As they become available, contact will be made with the coach or their representative. We do not want to contact any coach prior to the end of their season so as not to impact their postseason experience.
