Been many rumors tossed around today with no results except for a totally antsy and pissed off fan base. Because of Wellman, his lack of integrity and willingness to accept responsibility when he makes a mistake, I pose this question...If there was another AD other than Wellman involved, would you feel more secure and confident that a good candidate would be selected?

Not saying my sources in Winston are super strong, but I've heard nothing from them over the past couple of days to contradict the general themes we've heard from any of the other insiders recently.

Nervous, but optimistic.
 
I know Wake has some very wealthy boosters and some nice perspective revenue streams.

Big money better mean big and beat what Marquette is bidding.

I want him at Wake or staying at VCU losing to Marquette would be highly dissapointing

I don't think we need to spend as much as Marquette to win here if it's really just a race btwn us and them.

I've shit on Wellman plenty over the past 4 years.


He is doing his damn job this week. I've got no complaints. If he closes the deal, he deserves an enormous amount of credit.

Right now I'm giving Wellman the benefit of the doubt. We all wanted him to target one specific coach, and he has, and by all accounts we are bringing more resources to bear than any of us previously expected. We may miss out, but I don't think we can blame Wellman if we do.

However, if he turns around and hires some donk, then yes we should be mad...
 
I'm pretty new to these boards, obviously, and don't claim any insider knowledge. But I have to think that if Shaka was really committed to vcu his camp would have said something, at least for the sake of the fan base. Even if he was just looking to restructure his contract again, I would think he would say something to the effect of being committed to returning there. The longer he stays quiet the more confident I am he is not coming back.

Well when their AD can barely muster up a "at this time shaka smart is technically still the basketball coach" you know it feels a bit different
