I have no doubt that we've made a great pitch... but I don't think any of us have a read on Shaka Smart. That is why I am skeptical. Would I come to WFU if I were him? Of course... but I'm a little biased.
Take a moment to remember those big games in the Joel when Skip was coach. EVERY seat was filled, the noise was deafening, the atmosphere electric. (And Nasty was dancing in the aisle, but I digress...)
That's what I want again for Wake. We have suffered mightily since that time, enduring one blow after another.
IT'S TIME for something good to happen at Wake.
Come on, Shaka. Wake is a special, special place and we want you to recapture the glory days! Build yourself an empire like no other! You will be beloved. Let go...follow the light....
In my graduating class of 210 from a high school an hour away, I know 1 person that went to VCU and it was his only option.

It doesn't really matter whether any of us like VCU or Richmond. Shaka does. I have lived here for a long time and I went to WF. Richmond is a great city and VCU is a fine university. The people who say otherwise haven't lived here and don't know.

You are missing the point. Shaka likes it here.
VCU's Wiki page (easiest point of reference) says the average SAT score for its students is 1088. That's pathetic.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm from Balmur and lived in Richmond briefly. I'm fond of both.
Better than ours.

Jesus this thread has more pure garbage per line than your average Ke$ha song.
It happens today or it is not going to happen.
Has any other school offered Shaka that has a professor that his wife was named after?
With a competitive $3 million offer, the allure of competing in the ACC, the small elite academic University and family atmosphere offered by Wake, the appeal of the North Carolina geographic location to keep Shaka and his coaches on the east coast, Wake's awesome black and gold school colors, our proven history of giving Coaches time to build their program, etc, etc....there are many reasons why Shaka could choose to Coach at Wake.

Have you talked to him about it? Do you know how much he likes living in Richmond compared to how much he likes coaching college basketball at the highest level?
