Official Hoops Coaching Search Thread - Welcome Danny Manning!!!

So can somebody fill me in on this Jay Wright "situation"?

Whelp I thought my last post was clear but here goes again. Jay Wright is not a candidate. Nobody with any sort of legitimate information has even hinted that anyone in our AD has ever talked to him. It's a rumor born from and perpetuated by this board.

Marshall is a great college basketball coach but I will be disappointed if we end up with him. I just don't think he is a Wake Forest kind of guy. If we end up with him I hope he proves me wrong. I am not talking LOWF here. I am talking about the people that were WF people when my Dad was there, when i was there , when my kids were there, and I hope what it will be like if my grandkids matriculate there.

Can you clarify what a "Wake Forest kind of guy" is?

I think you think you're not talking LOWF, but you pretty much are

Some people like him because he's obviously a good coach and he's in the Big East which is falling apart. Others don't like him because he's Italian.

Realistically there's not much chance of getting him because he's from Philly (actually the Philly suburbs which has become a debating point for some), his wife's from Philly, and he makes plenty of money at Villanova.

No know contact has occurred.

YoungBuck's story would jive with Dan Collin's Wednesday article.

I think Dan Collins article today had a lot of subtext that we know nothing about.

People that have never experienced a Final 4?

Not trying to be a d*ck but this type of mentality is the definition of lowf. Marshall may not be folksy or preppy or religious or conservative, but he's a winner and it appears that he cares about his players and his school. Nothing wrong with any of the above traits, but it wouldn't be a bad thing for wake's national image if we shook things up a bit. C

Again with the Wake Forest Way spiel...

I still have a hard time thinking of anyone other than Dave Odom as coach.

Part of being a top-tier national university is having #SWAG and knowing it. Marshall has #SWAG and knows it. Same with Shaka.

I am just glad Bz has departed. Knowing Wellman wants to insure his legacy, I now believe they will select one of the top candidates available. I do not know Marshall that well but do know John Kresse and his wife Sue. Both are of the highest character and are thought of in the highest regard in Charleston. Kresse was a great coach and was a protege of Lou Carneseca (St.Johns). If it is Shaka or Marshall I think all will be satisfied.
