Official Hoops Coaching Search Thread - Welcome Danny Manning!!!

I've seen nothing about Marshall. Wonder if Wellman approached him at all? I'm guessing yes, with no positive response at all.

I hope you don't like Howland if you focus on this in Mack's candidacy.

I admit I'm on the fence with Howland, though more so about staffing and recruiting concerns, but the personality thing is a concern as well. If Howland brings in someone the caliber of Kelsey or Battle as his recruiting assistant, that would largely alleviate my concerns about him. Mack has done a nice job at a good hoops school, but yeah, I really was bothered by that incident a couple of years ago. I could get over that much easier if I thought he had a high ceiling, but I don't. I see Mack as better than Gregory and probably Brownell because he'll probably recruit a little better than Brownell, but I don't think we'll see the heights we hit with Odom and Skip with Mack.

"His ceiling is higher" = We know a lot about Chris Mack and know relatively little about Danny Manning as a CBB coach, so anything is possible!

Whelp, just caught up from last night. Funny that all the posters that took the weekend away from the thread return only to post and repost tired speculation.

VIBES VIBES VIBES -- SHAKA SHAKA SHAKA

The one positive on his resume is his big-man coaching, which is to some degree called into question by Embiid's development this year.

The cons are that he never made a name for himself as a big-time recruiter at Kansas (the friendliest evaluation I can find is "solid"); his recruiting at Tulsa has been worse, by the rankings, than Wocjik's (two two-stars and a bunch of UR's); he has two years of head coaching experience; his Ken Pom ranks at Tulsa have been the worst since 2006 (first year) and in line with Wojcik's last five teams (second year), albeit with inexperienced teams; and he turns 48 in a month and a half, so, while young-ish, he's not somebody like White or Miller who's succeeding at a remarkably young age.

Mack has had exponentially more recruiting success, far more success as a head coach, and is 3.5 years younger than Manning. Anyone advocating Manning over him would be well-served to remember Irish's motto, which got a lot of play around here 3-4 years ago, that hope is not a method.

Good post. Pretty meh.

I just feel like we've picked enough fruit off the Xavier tree. I'm ready to head to another orchard.

Official Hoops Coaching Search Thread - Waiting on Shaka

CMM's most recent tweet kind of scares me (could mean nothing of course)

Let's get something done here, Ronnie

I think I'd get start getting nervous Wednesday afternoon.

Nothing at all happening today could easily mean negotiations are going on. If it was either yes or no, we'd hear something.

Codi's Twitter makes Townie's late night musings from 2009 seem stoic.

I think the biggest question about Manning may be whether RW thinks he can sell Manning to the fanbase.

That post by OGB on Manning had me take a step back -- yeah, that doesn't look as good for him.

I'll slide him just under Mack now.

You are aptly named lazydeac.

What the hell does it say? You were just looking at it. Is there a reason why you couldn't copy and paste it here? Oh, because you're lazy. I get it now. Butthead.

Shaka is not coming to Wake. You guys could either troll me again because I haven't read all 477 pages or you could just move on to other candidates.
