Official Hoops Coaching Search Thread - Welcome Danny Manning!!!

Now I really hope we keep Childress JB and maybe even Rusty on board instead of Manning's shitbag of assistants. Seriously I see very little difference in hiring a coach w only 2years exp vs one of the top assistants in the Country. What about Brian Dutcher from San Diego State?? The DUTCHHHH has been Steve Fisher's right-hand man for 20+ years and is the HC-in-waiting at a top ten program in the country. Makes me mad

Our reporters looking into whether Wake Forest would have to hire any of Danny Manning's family members to name him coach. More at noon.

Wellman: So, Danny, what is your attitude toward recruiting?
Manning: You know, Ron, I believe recruiting is about embracing the whole family. You know, bringing the whole family into our college family. [wink wink nod nod]
Wellman: Danny, that's exactly the kind of culture I'm talking about. Welcome aboard.

Exactly

Its not Shaka, its not Marshall, hell its not even Howland.

But Jesus Fucking Christ people its not the worst hire in the world. He's way above Turner or White or other guys who have never won anything.

Also if recruiting is the most glaring question, what's to think he can't bring in an A-level guy to recruit with him? A gig as a lead assistant/recruiter with someone as famous as Danny Manning, at an ACC school, sounds like a great gig for a young go-getter.

If Danny Manning has a problem with recruiting -- which I can't believe he does -- why the hell would we hire him?

I don't see any evidence that Chill or Larue are better than any of Manning's assistants. Battle is obviously better.

I wonder if Manning will be asked to retain the assistants.

Check the "Manning's coaching staff" thread. Not much excitement in his current assistants, so it wouldn't surprise me if at least two of our current coaches stayed.

Since money is no object the first call needs to go to

ROFL

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Turd Ferguson again.

This is a dream come true, really. We get to hire a lower tier coach with little HC experience, AND keep several assistants from the worst period of basketball in Wake's history. Maybe not a home run, but definitely a stand up triple.

great cause we've done wonderful with those guys. Might be wonderful people but if ever there was a time for a clean break and a new start

Why again is Mike White such a good canddiate?

Because he was the lead recruiter at a school that recruited such hot shit talent that they never made the NCAA tournament? Or that fact that he would never want to come to a place that places any kind of academic restrictions on the kids he brings in, considering that his currently recruiting experience has been at Ole Miss and La Tech?

I'll never understand what you White Mike lovers see in him.
