Sources: Tyler Cavanaugh Transferring

Players come and players go that is the new reality. I can't even keep count of how many have transferred at UVa under Tony B. yet they are where we want to be in the ACC.

I think the Leonard transfer was unsettling to Cav, in addition to the upgrade in talent of our future offers. I don't think he wanted to have to compete for playing time.

If he wants to win championships, it's going to have to be from the bench.

I want to win championships, I suck too much to help make that happen here so I am moving on to somewhere else where I can be a shadow to an already established winning team.

?????

You do realize Bz isn't the coach any more?

You do realize the hole that we are in, right? We aren't making shit next year.. Maybe the NIT in year 2. Ron and [Redacted] really fucked us.

I think you are wrong on this. He is calling a spade a spade. We won't be making the NCAA in the next 2 years.

Cav is trying to make up for his stupid decision to play for Jeff [Redacted]. I can't fault him on this. He doesn't want to get McKie'd. Travis can only wish that he transferred. Cav is actually doing it.

He's also telling his teammates of the last two years that they mean nothing to him.

You know how he would have a better chance of being on a competitive team? Learn to rebound and play interior defense. And a fucking offensive put-back every now and then wouldn't hurt. 6-9 players who play like straight bitches in the post infuriate me. Especially one who shoots under 30% from three in his first two seasons.

His best friend on the team already transferred. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

Also, Manning isn't going to pet his nutsack and tell him that he is "better than Ryan Kelly".

Reminds me of the mediocre kid in pickup ball who skips the game with his friends and instead calls next and picks up the 4 best players in the gym to run with him. Doesn't matter that they never pass him the ball if he wins.

It's a bitch move. Understandable given the situation perhaps, but there's no way to sugarcoat it.

I think Cav believes two things:

1) He would never start a game under Danny Manning
2) Danny Manning won't make the tournament in his first 2 years

Add in Moto leaving and the result is a transfer, either to a contender where he can ride the bench to the dance or a mid major where he can make the tourney and get crushed by Kentucky in the first round. I bet he could cope with one of those 2 things but not both.

I was kinda surprised Moto didn't get any better offers.

Cav seems to much better options.

I did that once & ended up on a team w/ Muggsy, Delaney Rudd, Alvis Rogers & Charlie Thomas. We won like 10 games in a row & while I never scored in those game, it's a much better story 20+ years later than stating that I was the best player on a pick up team that included a future professor, a future business owner & a couple of future lawyers.

True, although I always had more fun playing against Tim Duncan than with him. (Although both were fun as hell. I'll never forget how good a passer he was.)

Say what? I didn't realize we overlapped at Wake.

Clearly, DM isn't every player's cup of tea. Three players this year decided not to play for him. At least two quality players at Tulsa decided the same. It doesn't make them all pussies for not wanting to play for him.

We had a reverse situation like this at city gym. We only showed up with three guys. The one who looked like Opie played at Northwestern. The team running the court had Kansas PF Alonzo Jamison (sp?). We needed a big and no one wanted play. There was a big, baby faced kid sitting with a couple of his friends. We asked him ti play. He was about 15/16, 6'5 about 215 or so.

The first couple of times Alonzo tried to score. The kid threw it back at him. The first few times we got the ball to the kid, he scored. So we kept trying to feed him. Midway through the game, he started kicking the ball back out. We asked him why.

He said,"I feel like a ball hog."

We told him to keep scoring we wanted to win.

After the game he politely introduced himself. ""Sir,my name is Tony Gonzalaez."

We thought he might be pretty good someday.

not that much better of one

Tim's senior year was my freshman year. I was a total gym rat, probably averaged playing 5 days a week and occasionally got the invite for the night games with players. It was probably one of my favorite things about Wake. I visited UNC and played their Sunday morning game once and even the bench players acted like they were famous, just being total assholes and threatening fights, shitting on mediocre players, fouling the shit out of anyone who might dunk near them, etc. At Wake you've got Tim Duncan passing up shots to get you open looks and remembering your name in the halls a month later.

Sad to hear the pickup games have all but died out now apparently. It was an awesome culture back then. Played more than a few games with LK on the court as well.
