2015 FB Recruiting: Mr. South Carolina Matt Colburn signs with #theawakening!

Bryce Love told Rivals that he has talked with Marcus Marshall and Nyheim Hines about all committing to the same school. At first I assumed that would be NC State, but it really could be a number of different schools if they were willing to offer Marcus Marshall. Could be worth keeping an eye on.

I picked Love out as a 4* I was irrationally hoping Clawson would land way back in the first page or two of this thread. I would kill for him to come here. I don't know why three running backs (two top tier running backs, no less) would commit to the same school, though. I guess Hines can play a few positions, but still.

OUCH! Your post about the RBs is interesting. Not since Mike Ramsuer and Topper Clemmons, have we had two really good RBs in the same class. Get them on campus Claw, we'll make room for them.

I didn't mean to imply that Wake would be one of the schools in contention for the package deal. Wake will not be. More about the increased risk of losing out on Marshall.

Who would take all three? UNC or an SEC school?

UNC, NCSU, Tennessee and Florida seem to be the schools that interest both Bryce Love and Nyheim Hines. Which ones might take Marshall in a package deal? Don't know.

UT needs to calm down. They do know they can't play all 10 RBs on their roster, right?

Blows my mind that 4* RBs keep signing there. Look at the roster, you won't see the field.

That doesn't really phase a 4 or 5 star recruit. In their minds, they can beat out anyone on the depth chart.

State would take all 3. And hines has discussed wanting to play slot and RB doesnt want to be just a RB. Knows his best position may be a WR slot guy

From what I have heard, Barbour is indicative of the commitment to football problems Wake has. Great student with an average test score. NCAA qualified but not up to the Wake test score even thought the school makes the standardized test optional. Wake let him loose of his letter of intent because of this, so in a position of need he goes to App. A Shrine Bowl in state player who would make an impact. A kid who would be accepted to Vandy or Duke but Wake standards want to be higher. It is hard to win games at Wake. No reason to make it harder, which it seems like in this case has happened.

I know nothing about this situation, and I don't know if the above is true, but if it is, we should all stop being WFU fans. No one outside of a 1 mile radius of the campus is going to suddenly think WFU is better than Vandy or Duke just because we shoot ourselves in the foot athletically.

+1 Vandy and Duke are perceived to be better and in fact are universally more marketable degrees than Wake. If anyone in the administration- athletic or academic thinks a few points on a test score enhances our reputation it proves we are inferior academically. No one can be that stupid. Wait.........

+2. If this is the case, changes need to be made immediately. Duke and Vandy are both rated higher academically than Wake.

Nope, there doesnt.

I would be surprised if there wasn't more to this. Wake's test-optional policy was for racial/socioeconomic diversity purposes (students of color will make up over 29% of next years incoming class). Point being, test scores need to be looked at contextually for a given group and HS gpa is a BETTER indicator of success in college.

Among African American males last year, average testing was 427 Critical Reading/ 436 Math/408 Writing (so 863 total CR+M).
