Going to GA- Bring your gun to the airport!

Considering there are multiple church shootings across the country I wouldn't fault someone for carrying a concealed weapon to church. I know several carry at my church and it is a little comforting knowing that if someone comes in blasting they are probably going down before they can do too much damage.

like others...wow...just wow....

Facepalm

C'mon, Wrangor. Carrying in a church would get a back hand from Jesus. Living in fear or "uncomfort" is no way to live.

Gunfight at the OK Chorale

that's funny.....congrats to Wrangor, he's united left and right against his silliness.

I'm not big on guns in bars for obvious reasons. Even if you're sober, the belligerent drunk guy getting in a fight shouldn't run the risk of being shot for being a belligerent drunk. Nothing else in the bill is a big deal, especially the airport thing.

Yep let's let us lt crazy people and potential terrorists bring guns into airports. It's not like terrorists have ever started killing events by going to airports in the US.

I mean, I think this whole thing is pretty silly, but I'm fairly confident that terrorists aren't thinking, "fuck. if only it were legal to open carry at the airport, then we'd be onto something. as it is, let's think of ways to terrorize within the law."

Living in fear? Carrying a gun is not living in fear. I don't even own a gun. It just doesnt seem crazy to me that people would want to carry one.

Agree on this. Bars seem kind of silly for this reason. But in sober settings I see no reason why someone who is licensed to carry shouldn't be able to.

Who are the people in an airport who aren't coming from a plane or going through security? Employees and people dropping off and picking up? Why do they need to open carry?

Why not? What is so inherently more dangerous about an airport parking lot than any other parking lot?

More people. It's an international location especially at ATL. I'd hate for visitors to the US to be welcomed by idiots carrying around rifles. It's not a good look.

I think security should be a priority throughout the airport not just at the gates.

How about the fact that many terrorists attacks were launched at or from airports?

I have not ever understood this logic.

"Ok I've got my keys, my wallet, my sunglasses, what am I missing? Oh duh...my Glock. Now I'm ready for the day."

The 2014 Tea Party backed candidate for California Governor, Tim Donnelly, got popped for attempting to carry a loaded gun in his baggage on board a plane in 2012. As noted earlier, CA has very strong gun laws, so it's bizarre that he thought carrying a loaded gun on a plane was OK more than a decade after 9/11. Donnelly led the other GOP candidate for most of primary season, so Rove et al jumped in at the last minute because they thought Donnelly (with zero chance of beating Jerry Brown) would be such a disaster (Akin, Mourdock) that he'd potentially hurt the GOP nationally.

If retail merchants are discouraging gun nuts from bringing rifles into their establishments, how many church leaders are actively encouraging open or concealed carry at their services?

Nothing in the law says you can carry guns past tsa. Even if the bill said that, tsa rules would trump the state bill. Certainly, mr Muhammad Jihad is not going to give a shit if a law is in place for it or not. And even if somehow this bill did allow you to carry on a plane or something dumb like that, a lot of good that's going to do when you're flying to a different state:

So a right that is guaranteed (the right to bear arms) should be stripped from our population because we don't want it to "look bad" to visitors.

Makes sense.

Open carry in an airport is akin to shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater.

Yes it is. People who open carry do so because in the back of their minds (or front for many probably) they need to have a gun on their person for protection or to diffuse a situation. It's living in fear of you think there is a modicum of danger at the mall, Olive Garden, or -- for God's sake -- church that would necessitate a gun.
