Wake-Clemson

An interesting question might be: who would you most want to take the last shot if we were down 1 and time running out?

There's the problem right there. There's no good unequivocal answer to that.

Dinos or Mitch, but only if you can guarantee me it's a catch and shoot 3.

Codi, if you can guarantee me he gets to the rim.

Devin, if it's a layup from the left.

If, if, if speaks to the one-dimensional nature of every player on the team.

We have no one who can create his own shot from the perimeter and make it, which is what last possession situations invariably become.

Well said.
Dinos is the one I would choose, simply because he is not likely to be blocked from the outside. At least he would get off a shot. I would want to say CMM but...

Clemson is a crap team.

Rick Barnes Clemson team 64
2015 Clemson 39

Same for Cliff Ellis only more like 80-55.

We will be good next year. Can't wait to be good again.

This is ultimately Ron Wellman's fault. I just want him to leave. We should not be sitting here 20 years after Tim Duncan and 10 years after Chris Paul wondering why we're 2-38 in our last 40 games on the road in the ACC.

Yeah, there's no way Clemson is more talented than Wake. Clemson is near the bottom of the league with BC, GT, and VT in terms of pure talent.

Currently, we are at that same level.

Agreed. Wish I had confidence that Hatch cares enough about being competitive in sports to make a good hire.

Crawford , Cobb( if we sign him)and Wilbekin should be our top 3 guards next year as far as playing time. The hell with experience factor of CMM and MJ--it's all LOSING experience . We need a lead guard who can take the ball in end of game situations and make a play, whether it be a great pass, drive or jumper. We need a leader who wants the ball and can do something with it. Guard play counts most in the NCAA tournament and in close games. We won't win until we have such a player or players. We will continue to fold like a cheap lawn chair when the going gets tough( Louisville, Duke, Syracuse, Clemson ).

Incredibly awful post

Remaining schedule and best case.
@FSU - W
VT - W
NCSU - W
@GT - W
Miami - L
@UVA -L
@ND - L
UVA - L
Pitt - W
@dook -L
@BC - W

We could finish 6-5 (7-11) but that would require two road wins. @FSU is optimistic, but since we've gone to Syr and Clem and should have won both of those games, maybe we break through there.

We could also go 4-7 (5-13).

Clearly to build for next year ending 6-5 would be a good set up. The current players would have some confidence and our new players would help us win some of these toss up games we are losing today.

As painful as it was just watched the HD version of the end in slow mo. DM clearly never called for a TO. Had both hands up as if to tell his team to settle down with it. Never saw him make a TO motion.

DT had clear possession of the ball as his man had run past him and out of bounds. A quick pass to Mitchell who had no one guarding him. He swung it to CMM. We had three guys touch the ball with not Clemson man on him. We were not under pressure until CMM was guarded. We can debate the TO, but we had clear control of the ball with no pressure from Clemson. At that point, it's the coaches decision to either let them play without Clemson getting to set their defense or calling a TO to design a play. We lost the ball the same way we could have if the TO was called and had passed the ball in. In fact we would have been more closely guarded if we had called a TO at that point.

Hard to tell if CMM was fouled from the angle. It looks like the Clemson guy had his left arm wrapped around CMM and used that as leverage to swing around behind CMM to go for the ball. Can't tell whether he got arm or ball. We would need more angles to tell if and how much he was fouled.

Obviously thought CMM was fouled as he was asking the officials for a foul.

On the last play, our defense was overloaded on the right side of the basket while Clemson was on the left side. We had Devin and McClinton on the right, Roundtree on the left. All three were right under the rim. Roundtree was pushed or knocked away from his side and he was the only deac on the left. Which essentially left two Clemson players on the left side where the ball was tipped to. And by time the ball was coming down DT, McClinton and Roundtree were all under the backboard with 3 Clemson players in front.

Our real mistake on the last shot was trying to secure a rebound. The best play would have been to slap the ball out to the perimeter as it would have taken a miracle catch and shoot even if a Clemson player came up with it.

I was wondering if we could have one of our transfers, that would still be eligible this year who would have helped this team the most?

- Moto
- Cav
- Chase

I'm also assuming DM would have gotten them into the system to be more effective than they were under the previous regime.

Would prefer Moto to Leonard.

Would prefer Dinos to Cav.

Would prefer Chase to Rondale.

Moto would have helped most with some muscle inside. Chase would have provided up to 10-15 mins of a serviceable 3-pt threat if needed. Haven't done the math to see how this would impact schollies next year, but it's rank speculation anyway. Skeen would help too.

Actually I think Cav would have been the best option. Certainly was willing to mix it up inside. Potential 3pt shooter. Could help rebounding and outside shooting.

He sucked. Couldn't even dunk at 6'8" and never showed the ability to shoot from 3, rebound or defend. He could shoot free throws. I'll take Greek Deac over him any day.

A miserable and disappointing final 6 minutes but the problem is as much the final 16:30. Too many poor, ill advised shots taken early in the shot clock whenever we get a lead. We don't extend a lead even when our opponent is trying its best to give us a W. We quit running our offense as designed and decided to do it all alone all too often. When our opponent buckles, down our lack of BB IQ and time / shot awareness shows up in spades. Our junior class was 1 -20 in ACC road games coming into today's game. I thought they were tired of losing and would do whatever it took to win after the UNC loss. We looked better on D, but we did not value each offensive possession and play smart offensive BB.

A good summation of the realities.

I would type more characters in response to your incoherent babble but these are too many....
One clear point- we don't have a leader who can take and MAKE a shot at the end of a close game . You can't respond because it's a fact. Everyone is sick of CMM's bricks and late game fuck ups.
