2015 FB Recruiting: Mr. South Carolina Matt Colburn signs with #theawakening!

I'm guessing this thread will shortly come to an end...

Any updates on KJ Brent?

He would be fabulous. If Hatch has any vision, he'll have that in the long-term plan.

Really excited about this. I could definitely envision 40 catches and 5 TDs for Brent next season, and he probably has more upside as well. The best part though is the flexibility this gives the staff to redshirt an additional freshman if they think it is the best move.

Why is everyone so high on Brent? The guy caught 9 passes for 111 yards last year and played in every game. He has a total of 14 catches and 1 TD in three years. Is he going to play offensive lineman?

40 catches and 5 TDs is what you think is a reasonable projection for this guy? That's like four years of production.

While 40 catches and 5 TDs is probably being optimistic, keep in mind that E.J. Scott on had 3 receptions the season before he came to Wake. It's really all about opportunity.

It's all about PT. You say he played every game. I couldn't find snap counts for the entire season, but did find them for the SC-Kentucky game. He only saw the field for 7 snaps that game.

So it's the same as EJ Scott who went from 3 catches in 2013 to 50 catches in 2014. The difference was the # of snaps that he was getting.

Brent's competition at the X-receiver will probably be Jonathon Williams and Scotty Washington (they could start Steven Claude there as well). I think Brent wins the starting job, especially when you consider that Washington isn't at Wake this spring.

So what masters program does Wake have that UVa and SC don't have?

Google tells me Scott was enrolled in the Liberal Studies grad program. It then told me that the MALS can either focus on American Cultural Studies or Global Studies.

Look up EJ Scott's numbers before he got to Wake. Then, look up 2014's numbers. Get back to me.

I'm back. Ignoring your caustic tone, I looked up Scott's stats. Good for EJ Scott. BTW, I had to figure out that you didn't mean the EJ Scott who dates a girl who was on True Blood and and is going blind. Hopefully this guy can emulate Scott's success.

Of course we've got our own guys who are coming back next year who's production has dwarfed that of Brent, a fourth-year junior who couldn't get on the field enough to catch more than 11 balls and decided to forego his final year of eligibility at USC when he was the second leading returning receiver. And Harris will be back next year for Wake too and you all seem to have a major hardon for that.
