BBall Recruiting Thread 2k16- SJM, Washington, Childress & Mitchell sign NLIs; 2017?

The other thing that can't be said enough about our class of 2015 is that nobody expected Danny to put together such a good class on the fly.

It's an average class relative to our best recruiting classes, but it means that expectations should be really high for 2016.

It is pretty impressive that Danny and company got to WF average with a class where they had very little groundwork. If this is the "low end" of the caliber of recruits Danny can get, then the next several years may well make people forget the last five.

As an avowed honeymoon truther, I don't think that's how it works especially at Wake. Early classes tend to be the high end of recruiting.

My definition has been the second class, first full class. That class doesn't include the old coach's guys and is mostly recruited before the coach ever coaches a game.

Odom's honeymoon class included Rogers and Childress. Skip's was Big E and JGray. Both were their best big classes.

actually I believe that the previous coaches laid the groundwork for both of those classes.

Manning might be a bit of an exception in that regard. With the exceptions of Rondale and (maybe) Crab and Chill, the rest of our commits from 2014-2016 are 100% Manning recruits.

definitely different circumstances as Odom/Skip didn't bring in any recruits their first year coaching @ WF.

however some of our 2015 & 2016 recruits/targets were initially recruited by the previous staff. Not saying that the previous staff would have been able to land them but they did lay the groundwork. I think those prior relationships were part of the reason Childress was retained as an asst.

BBall Recruiting Megathread 2k16 - Danny doin' work

Yes. I agree Childress laid the groundwork for our 2016 commit and hopefully future ones.

wasn't Childress also recruiting Crawford under the previous regime?

I also believe in the honeymoon phase but would extend it an additional year. If you look back @ WF history only Staak & kiledzB failed to recruit a future NBA player in their first two classes.

I didn't hear the name Bryant Crawford until Manning got here.

Don't forget, Chill was the third assistant on a bench filled with worthless recruiters, so I really think that the renewed focus and energy in 2015 came solely after Manning arrived.

2015 is not over with the hope that we get an impact player at the 2 or 3.

Hard to sell a product that you don't believe in, and that is also objectively and transparently terrible.
