Clinton Email Problem

I think people can understand a former president making tons of money on speeches. The claims of being broke hurt Hillary. But the big problem for the GOP is their candidates. People aren't going to vote for Scott Walker over Hillary unless Scott Walker is a better candidate for their interests.

Not sympathetic, but the timing does suck for the GOP. They can't pretend Benghazi was the worst thing in American history, but keep delaying the hearings. The private server is the worst thing, but that's already baked into the cake even before hearings.

Wealth issues are the ones that make people despise candidates. McCain not knowing how many houses he owned (thanks to his wife's inherited money) was far worse than anything Mitt did, but people cut McCain more slack. Mitt caught a lot of shit for a car elevator, but the 47% and the timing of the release is what killed him. If Hillary and Chelsea had made their tone deaf comments on wealth in 2016, she'd be toast. People may not be able to relate to the Google Boys' wealth, but at least they can understand how it was earned. People can't relate to Bubba making $100M via speeches, spending $3M on Chelsea's wedding, and still claiming you're not really rich. Hard to keep that drumbeat going unless a smoking gun emerges in mid to late 2016.

This is the Clinton family we are talking about.

Yeah. But how does the GOP treat Clinton scandals? They exaggerate them to the point that the GOP suffers as a result.

Walker's a donk, but Kasich, Jeb, Rubio, and maybe even Christie are probably good enough to win, especially if more things explode on the Clintons. Bigger problem is the GOP's policies and behavior over the past 6 years. Not enough people trust them enough with the White House and Congress. The Clintons are hardly saints, but they've been extremely fortunate to have the enemies they have.

I was just using Walker as a placeholder for any Pub precisely because of your point.

I would imagine the waning influence of his parents.

Waning influence of parents, GOP move to the right, new life experiences. Same things I would imagine generally influence politics in general - or just influence people in their formative years in general aside from politics.

i was an athiest at 13, a pacifist at 18, but to become liberal i had to go to college for that. I have a liberal arts degree, so I studied the humanities a lot. That coupled with continued thought provoking life experiences made me hungry to know how the actual world worked. I since read the prince, 48 laws of power, and paid extremely careful attention to my history studies. Eventually I realized that Tupac was the first influence in my life who told me the truth about the real way the world worked.

So when I was about 22 I had a lithograph of Pac framed and it hangs on my wall to this day.

Numbers is what every conservative parent fears.

I think liberal parents would be much more appalled at their kids being republicans that the opposite.

My parents wouldn't care who I married as long as I was happy. Very socially liberal and very VERY fiscally conservative.
