BBall Recruiting Thread 2k16- SJM, Washington, Childress & Mitchell sign NLIs; 2017?

Recruiting has been tough at WFU forever. Odom struggled after Duncan graduated. Skip lost his touch for 3 years just before his death. We have a good freshman PG and Chill will be an excellent backup. We have Wilbekin as a combo guard, Woods and Washington as shooters, Crab and Mclinton at the 3, Dinos and Collins at the 4, and Moore at center. We need another big more than anything else.

Wilbekin is not a combo guard. Not even close.

Good news on Froling. McEwen and Froling as the final 2 additions, while not great, is about the best we can do at this point. Hope it happens. Although Fernando intrigues me, as I'm not sure who among Doral, Collins, Dinos, and Froling would be protecting the rim.

Just wondering How his game compares to Dinos as far as athleticism. Seems like they are very similar.
I've only read articles on him and highlight videos plus looked at his stats over the summer, but he seems similar to Dinos with his outside shooting ability but he contributed more on the boards than Dinos.

They all have their own styles but I'd say Freeman is the most similar to Dinos, while Froling shares the ability to shoot outside but is a little more refined down low and with rebounding.

Again, this is not true. The RSCI goes back to the class of 1998 and Wake coaches consistently recruited top-50 players with a notable exception.

Odom struggled after Duncan graduated.

I guess he only recruited Robert O'Kelley, Broderick Hicks, Darius Songalia, Craig Dawson, Antawn Scott, Josh Howard, Jamaal Levy, and Vytas Danelius during that period of time.

If only we could struggle so much now!

Skip lost his touch for 3 years just before his death.

You mean when he recruited AFA, Ty Walker, Tony Woods, James Johnson, Jeff Teague, Jamie Skeen, Anthony Gurley, and David Weaver?

If only we could lose our touch like that now!

[I am well aware that some of those guys failed to live up to their potential, but your post is just wrong.]

His twin sisters play for the SMU women's team. I don't know if that helps or hurts.

Kid is coming all the way across the world to go to school. Wouldn't hurt to have his big sisters nearby.

Probably worth noting that Wake is the only official visit Froling currently has scheduled. Read into that what you will about being an early favorite.

So who's the Next Big Thing after Froling?

Eli Wright is the 134 ranked player by 247. McEwen is 131. Let's not go insane that Wright is some top tier recruit while McEwen is some scrub.

It'll be a better comparison when all the services update their post summer rankings. Wright is going to move up a lot, hopefully McEwen does as well.

I miss when we used to argue about Top 75 guy vs. some guy just outside the Top 50.

If we don't get him, the better question will be whether it makes sense to hope for/expect top 50 players to sign with WFU, and whether it's logical for us to keep thinking we are within range, of the cusp, of near-greatness. The return on emotional investment in waiting for the big WFU turnaround is very, very low.

I'm torn between being furious we can't sign a great class and being furious at myself for still caring. It would be so much easier if we took the Wellman/historically-not-horrible approach.

The dismantling and the likely long-term neutering of our basketball program is the Wellman-Hatch sports legacy at Wake. This is not easy to accept, even for Wake fans.

Which is why the staff is still pushing for recruits like Smith, Bolden, etc...

If Giles really wanted to play at Wake he would have committed already so he could influence recruiting. Players like Miller and Wright would have a much harder time saying no with Harry already in the fold.

I have insufficient words to reply adequately to the stupidity of this post

Who's saying he is? I think most people wanted both of them.

I can't imagine the comedy and enjoyment that other fanbases get out of reading this thread.
